You’ve got a map, you’ve got tokens, and maybe you’ve even got some fog of war. But you haven’t got the most important part of any D&D game yet, your players! In the bottom right of the map screen, you’ll see two icons, a speech bubble and an “i” in a circle.
Click the “i” icon, and you’ll see the “Invite Link” and “Map Link” options. Invite Link copies the campaign invite URL if you want to quickly add new players to your campaign. However, the player we’re adding to the map is already in the campaign, so we’ll click the Map Link button. This will copy the URL for this map to your clipboard so you can share it with your players.
If a player follows this URL, they’ll be brought to this campaign's map, where they’ll see the selected map and any tokens, and will also be able to control any tokens associated with their character sheet, including companions.
I'm doing exactly this, and it does not work what so ever. My players just have a black screen. We have tried refreshing their screen and mine, I've sent additional links, and it still does not work. From my point of view dnd beyond vtt is broken.
I've looked through everything I can find and nothing helps. Maybe its cause my master tier is through google not directly through beyond dnd? I have done everything the instructions say.

I always play with bagpipes and they can cause serious psychic damage.
Going through Google shouldn't matter if your subscription is visible as active on the website. Double check your 'My Subscriptions' tab in the upper right corner of the webpage. I just checked it and was able to get it to work, so I will talk you through what I did. This is only current at the time of this posting and the Maps tool is still in alpha - it may change in the future for any posters who find this to not be correct a year from now.
Make the campaign on the My Campaigns page.
Launch Maps, clicking the blue tab in the upper right. This will take you to a new window, which is now the Maps tool.
Create the map to your liking, including the player tokens.
Bottom right 'i' is the 'Game Info' icon. Clicking on it is a bit different now than the instructions in the OP. Now it is 'Invite', which is for players who have not yet joined the campaign. This will NOT take them to the maps, but to the My Campaign page. Next is 'Link'. This Will take players to the Maps tool, but only if they have joined the campaign already. If they are not already in the campaign, it will say "Campaign not Found". This is the one you want to give your players.
When they click the link given by the Link button, they will populate into a lobby that says 'Please wait for your DM to start the game session.'
From the Maps page, you will then click 'Start Session'. The big red button on the bottom of the screen.
If they try to join the map while your Maps page is closed down (like if you logged off for the night), they will see 'Please wait for your DM to start the game session.'
If they are getting the Maps front page that asks for subbing, it might be that they are trying to navigate to the Maps tool or that you have given them a link that you have copied manually from the Maps tool page (as in not tied to a campaign), or have only partially copied the correct campaign Maps link using the URL in your browser, only including the 'https://www.dndbeyond.com/games' part, and missing the specific number for your campaign. EDIT: Or they have not logged into their account when you have done all the above correctly. Clicking the correct link while they are not logged in will send them to the subscription page. This INCLUDES if they are clicking a link through an app like Discord, which uses its own browser and not their native one!
I hope this helps. This is an end-to-end description of the process.
I have done all this step by step. My character is in the maps and so is the dm. Still our connected players section shows a (0). Player token is added.

I thought that if I had a Master Tier account my players don't have to have a subscription to access my maps?
If there is a maps area of these forums, please point me to them. I already read the FAQ and can't find an answer to this question. Thanks.
I think I found the answer:
Inviting Players to View the Map

do you have the map covvered in fog of war? if that's the case the player version will just be black
Then what is the point of fog of war?
hiding the part of the map the player's don't know about. the DM can remove fog of war from parts of the map
Player character sight is not handled automaticly so the dm has to manage it.
I still have this issue if anyone can help. No fog of war. The players just get a sub screen

Was this resolved for you? I still have the issue and can't work around it. I followed all the instructions

My players don't even have a "Launch Maps" button to use. 😂 I need to read more about using these maps i guess.
