I want to homebrew a magic item for monks and druids that works like the Insignia of Claws (gives + to hit and damage) but also adds +1d6 necrotic damage on hit.
How can I do this, and have the additional damage dice show on the character sheet?
I've started out basing it on the Insignia of Claws so the hit/damage bonus is in. I've tried modifier "Damage - Necrotic - 1d6" but that doesn't show. I've also tried "Melee Weapon Attack - Necrotic - 1d6" but that doesn't work either.
In fact, I can't find a way to add additional dice of differing damage types on ANY magic item, weapon or not. Doesn't D&D Beyond support it? On the Dragontooth Dagger the extra damage die seems to be simply added in the notes. So my last question, if the above doesn't work, how do I make the "damage type symbols" in freehand text so I can add it in the notes of the PCs unarmed attack?
I know it's been awhile since the original post, but in the hope that this helps people I'm sharing how I worked around this.
Having a character with a Helm of Brilliance with a fire opal in it (grants an extra 1d6 fire damage to weapons with an action + command word), I was looking at ways to do this. The first we did was to just add 3 bonus damage to the item so it worked in the average roll of the fire damage. This was the easiest but just didn't feel as right.
So what I ended up doing was creating a custom action as melee with no to hit or damage, no stat, just dmg type fire and dmg 1 d6. This created a line item which I named Blazing Weapons from Helm of Brilliance which can be clicked just after normal damage dice and added to it or even announced to the DM separately since it's fire damage and may or may not matter on it's own.

Thanks for any help :)
There isn't a modifier for adding bonus dice to unarmed strikes/natural weapons because no official content does that.
You can add bonus damage dice to items, but they are only visible when item is expanded in sidebar.
Melee weapon attack bonuses should show on all melee weapons sidebars.
I don't think there is a way to put damage symbols in descriptions.
Has there been an update/fix to this? I am homebrewing a subclass and want to add a damage die to all unarmed strikes.
Additionally, I am not seeing one of my characters (a fighter) strength bonus added to their attack rolls for unarmed strikes. Is that intentional?
No fix for the first part yet.
Post a link to the character for the second part so someone can look at it for you.

Yeah this is the workaround I am currently using for my party aswell for the eldritch claw tattoo
Four years later and we still don't have the ability to do this. Does DNDBeyond care at all about homebrew programming?
