You're entirely missing my point. I'm well aware of who owns what, and how legal rights and licensing works. This thread is about the technical aspects of Custom Classes in D&D Beyond as a tool. While some discussion digressed into issues about what things should be designed as subclasses versus classes. But this definitely is not a thread about rules versus guidelines and philosophies of homebrew
Ok, I will redefine my statement, why bother with a discussion on what should be a new class if you can't make one on here
Because the point of this thread is not to discuss what should be a new class but to discuss the availability of homebrewing custom classes in future. This thread recognises we cannot make one and seeks to understand and discuss why we cannot and how we might be able to in future. Some tangents may crop up but that is ultimately the purpose of this thread.

Ok thank you all for the clarification, I guess I am just a little agitated because I want it now, but at least there is a chance it might happen in the future, and I guess I would rather like to make myself be patient. Does anyone know where I would look to see how I might bring back the 2e ability score adjustments for the races? I actually liked the negatives to balance the races so they aren't so OP so quickly.
Also, I want to apologize to anyone I might have offended with my ranting.
We can make custom races, so that should be relatively straightforward. I haven't tested whether I can make negative adjustments, but given some of the monstrous races do it should be possible. There are probably some good threads on custom race creation in the app.
I've made a few sub-classes, but they don't show up when i'm making a character.
Check that on the home page of the character builder you have "homebrew content" switched on. Also check you are the correct level for choosing the subclass (for some this is level 1, some level 2 and others level 3).

Curious if any one can help me making a subclass for my thief/warlock. I got most of it down but getting one of my moves to work properly for uses/storage isn't working.
problem is we and my DM made a death god class/patron for the warlock, one of the skill is for every guy I kill I collect a soul after 8 my patron comes and collects and gives me a soul token which activates certain abilities. I have having a problem making it so I have 8 slots to keep count of the souls I have and making a slot for each token I get. any idea how to do that?
It has been 2 years since the last update about homebrew classes is there any possibly it is now being worked on
There has even no mention of it in recent Dev updates. There are still a lot of official rules to support. I think that homebrew classes are a long ways off yet.
I think homebrewing content should be encouraged as something you should be able to do with private characters for private use. You should be allowed to create your own subclasses that you can use for your own characters as you see fit. For example, I want to create a Barbarian subclass called Juggernaut. Basically it would use the same damage reduction and strength modifiers as the Barbarian class, but I would add subclass abilities like a primeval war cry that frightens creatures with a saving throw against intimidation or whatever mechanic handles that within a wide cone directly in front of the Juggernaut and a higher level aura ability that does something similar to all hostile creatures within sight. If I had the ability to do that from the website or app, that would be awesome.

Is there a way to make a custom class on paper, and have it submitted to WotC like the blood hunter was?
The blood hunter was not, as far as I know, submitted to WOTC. DDB is not WOTC. They are completely separate companies.
DDB was a major sponsor of Critical Role during campaign 2, and Matt Mercer made the blood hunter available to DDB to add for free here. Perhaps in part because Talisen's first character was a blood hunter.
Because of the sponsorship, they've been willing to incorporate some of Matt's homebrew. But I can't see it making sense for them to open that up to a wider community. Especially not when there are a slew of official rules and class/subclass abilities they still need to fully implement.

I do wonder (sheer curiosity, not losing any sleep over it) if they made the dev tools available to Matt so he could add it all and update it as needed as the class was put through its paces, or if he just sent the writeup to DDB and they entered everything for him.

You can already homebrew subclasses here
