Can we please get a way to force a character sheet to recache...
I get you probably do the 15-20 minute caching of a character to save resource and honestly that is fine for like 99% of the time. So what I am asking for is this.
Can we please get a buttong that you can press somewhere like where you change theme that will force a recache of the character sheet. Something manually and out of the way so its really only every used when needed. Because man its annoying when your working on 1 item. But I am in the process of creating about 30 spells and every time I make a mistake I am just like... Well guess I gotta leave that for 15-20 minutes will I do something else.
Or add a way in the homebrew system that loads up a dummy character sheet with the active homebrew on it so we can see how it works on a character sheet. This 15-20 minutes because I misspelled or labeled something is freaking insane.
You can force a re-cache by either adjusting the character’s level and resetting it again afterwords, or by adjusting their inventory and resetting it again too.
So either add a level and then remove it again, or add equipment and then remove it again. Either of those should force a recache.
I thought that... but after doing that it still didn't show the effect for the third level spell slot.
Could order matter, for example, in this case, I entered levels 5, 7, 9 but missed 3 for the AT HIGHER LEVELS (5) section, so I added 3rd it placed it at the bottom, but I don't see a way to change that order.
Is it nto working because it goes 5, 7, 9, 3 instead of 3, 5, 7, 9? because if you have to delete everything because you forgot 3rd level and recreate it, then they really should add a way to sort those.
Because it isn’t actually a homebrewer at all. It’s the official software that the Devs use, they just allow us limited access to the software. It was never actually intended for our use, so it isn’t very intuitive at all.
Are you using the “spell level” type of “at higher level scaling” by any chance? If instead you use “spell scale” and just set the level at “2” then you don’t need to enter what happens at each individual increment, it would just automatically apply that scale for every two spell slot levels.
Honestly I am giving myself a headache using their system for something that is included in the base description of the spell. Which my players are smart enough to know. But I'd like the spell to be built correctly.
I am using spell level, because high level spells change the challenge of of the beast you are allowed to re-animate. So between
1st and 2nd you can re-animate a beast witha challenge rating of 0
3rd to 4th you can reanimate a beast with a challenge rating of 1/8
5th to 6th you can re-animate a beast with a challenge rating of 1/2
7th to 8th you can re-animate a beast with a challenge rating of 1
9th you can re-animate a beast with a challenge rating of 2
So it kinda needs to be in there as spell level because I am not sure if spell scale can handle challenge levels.
EDIT: to be fair this one isn't so bad, because its just flavor, but 2 hours ago when I was trying to figure out how to get the dice to change... that one is where most of my frustration with the system is coming from.
Oh I figured that out eventually, I was using "additional count" because we were adding additional dice, which was a count in my mind. But in DDB its "additional points" so that each spell slot higher you increase the dice by 1 additional dice.
It was me just not understanding their terminalogy. Which would be fine if I could just hit save, hope over to a character sheet and see the result... but I can't I have to wait... Which was just driving me more insane. I think as I get more and more familiar with the system and make less mistakes it'll be less annoying. But honestly the only thing driving me crazy is the waiting for the change to take effect.
Also side note: Changing character level, ability scores, does not seem to be recaching the spell...
You have to change the character level both up and back down (or vice versa) so that it triggers the system to ask if you’re really sure you want to do that. Then it still takes a minute for the cache to update. It’s not instantaneous, just faster.
If you’re not sure how something works (like points/count) the easiest way to learn is by finding something official that already does that thing and using it as a template to see how they did it.
Alright it's faster then 15-20 minutes. Not instant but faster. It'll help as a I grow. I still just wish they had a simple button...
I will continue being driven slowly mad by this site, thanks for the help though.
What folks don’t realize is that it isn’t going through 1 cache, it’s going through, like, 4 of them. It has to clear the cache on the server where the creation platform (aka “homebrewer”) is located, then one on the server where the homebrewed content is located, then one on the server where the character sheet is located, and then the cache for that specific character sheet. That’s why it takes so long.

OMG HOW CAN THEIR HOMEBREW BE THIS BROKEN!!!!!!
I have to delete everything under AT HIGHER LEVELS because I didn't put the 3rd level in first, it has to be in order or it wont register.
THATS SO BROKEN
