I love the current state of the new character sheet, I think it's amazing!
From my brief attempts to fiddle with it, Snippets are a very cool feature, though I have a few questions. First, is there a command for Division that involves rounding, and if so, which direction does it round in? Additionally, is there a way to classify the length of "Other" for Reset Durations for actions?
The equipment list has a column for "location" but there's no way to add custom locations on the sheet. It's kind of annoying because my wizard doesn't carry his cart and mule around on his back.
I would imagine this is a "first step" in the better inventory management they have teasingly spoken about once or twice. As the guy who usually ends up with the party funds and inventory, I look forward to being able to store items in my Bag of Holding, then store it in the group's Cart for easy inventory consolidation.
I also wouldn't mind some form of group-access inventory, but that sounds more like a campaign request, to me, than a character sheet one.
Here's the CSS to use for Stylus (DO NOT USE STYLISH -- It's spyware now.), if you want to achieve this without having to wait for D&D Beyond to make the right decision and implement this change:
I saw this and thought "oh that's neat, but is it really that big of a deal?"
And then I went ahead and tried it out, and it really is! Huge QOL improvement with something so simple.
EDIT: I wonder if we should start a sort of CSS repository thread for these snippets folks have posted. I would do it, but I don't actually haven't anything to contribute to it.
Truth be told, you can totally assign a character sheet to another account via campaign slot. The share, again, is meant to be view-only.
Also, spells do not work like items because there is a lot of complexity behind them. I am not saying that in the future you won't be able to manage the spells as easy as you do for the items. Just saying, the new sheet is not even 1 week old. While any feedback is welcome, the team needs to weight that feedback and find the optimal solution for most users.
What's the point of sharing a character sheet then if you can't see the info to play the character? I don't want to assign the character to a campaign or another character, and people that host podcasts that want to share their characters for others certainly aren't going to be doing that.
As is, the share feature is incomplete for any spell-casters, and that's unfortunate. Hopefully this is something that can be addressed quickly, but it sounds like not.
The gray minuses in front of stats and saving throws are quite hard to see at small sizes on mobile etc. Using proper minus signs “−” instead of the dashes you’re using “-“ would help. Can you please make this simple update?
The fundamental issue is that I can't share a playable version of my character someone else. Yes, you should 100% allow us to see the contents what spells a character knows, not just the ones they happen to have prepared for that day.
The usability issue of having to go to "manage spells" in the first place is annoying just to pick your spells for the day too. Why can I equip and attune equipment without the sidebar, but I have to go into the sidebar to pick spells? If spells were listed like equipment, this would have addressed both of these concerns. So yes, please look into adding this.
The issue with this is that you, or I, only have the experiences of ourselves and those we game with to base this on - what if Curse has data that 95% of players don't bother changing their prepared spells other than when levelling up? It suddenly becomes way less beneficial to list all of them in the way you described for 19 out of 20 people.
Giving feedback that you would like a certain feature and why you would like it is awesome, the team love that information, but please remember that you're talking about your own experiences and not those of everyone that uses D&D Beyond.
The request to be able to share a character with someone, such that they have all of the information necessary to play the character is understood.
Does the data show why people don't do it though? The fundamental concern with data-driven approaches is you need to understand the why behind the numbers too; that isn't collected in automated fashions. I never change my prepared ones because when I create a character here, it's just to do a quick outline of it as I have many of the books here, then I put it into another tool (e.g. dicecloud or Fantasy Grounds) and rarely touch it here again. If a lot of people do the same, that skews the numbers pretty badly.
I am talking about my experiences, my experiences of those that I play with, and the experiences of those that I've seen playing the game. Maybe I'm just in the vast minority though.

I wonder to what extent this is the case too. For another example, with the 70% desktop statistic, I wonder if my hybrid laptop (with a very "Desktop" resolution) would count in there even though I use it with the keyboard detached in a way basically identical to a tablet. And I'm guessing that's not uncommon.
Why is the tablet version similar to the phone page? I would like for it being more like the desktop version!
The desktop view uses hard coded spacing and placement on the layouts and requires a resolution of 1200 pixels across, otherwise you get one of the narrower versions. (There are two that i have noticed across my devices.)

I change some of my prepared spells almost every long rest. Maybe that’s because I’m playing a Druid and have plenty of varied spells that can be useful in different ways depending on the terrain and expected enemy types. I don’t currently find it hard to use the sidebar to change prepared spells. Equipment you can change each round so it makes sense to expose it that way, but for something that only changes at a long rest, the way it is seems perfect.

Careful. Changes in the markup can break any CSS you've written. I already encountered this on multiple occasions with my own styles. You're constantly having to adapt and make changes based on the whims of the developers.

Then, it comes to a point to understand what is the sharing. The sharing is not meant for play. Sharing is for view only. If it was meant for play, it would have been a lot of trouble, account-wise, because it means that everyone with the link would be able to modify something on your account.
If you want to create characters for your players, and help them during the campaign, that is covered by the campaign management.

To be fair, it's hardly "the whims of the developers" - there is zero promise to keep the styling or content static so that the community can apply external styling, specifically for the reason that the site is still being expanded and developed.
Where there is feedback, it is considered and improvements are made.
Code management isn't something that takes place by the whim of a single developer.

You keep saying "sharing is for view only". We clearly have a different definition, because when I view a character, I expect to be able to see everything about it. When I say "play", I mean the ability to re-create or use this character somewhere, maybe on DDB, but maybe just for PnP, FG, Roll20, or anywhere else really.
I get that I can't manage their spells with a shared view, however, it's an implementation detail that the only way I can see a character's spells is via the manage spells option.
Here's an example:
One of my players loves DDB and uses for everything. They want to use DDB to manage their character, so they send me a link to their character so I can see what they've done. I go to look at their character and I see only a handful of their spells.
The workaround here is for them to export the character as a PDF and send that along. Fine, it works. It's clunky and won't update with their character, but ok. Eventually, I as the DM will either get an account here to create a campaign so they can add their character in it, or I'll ask them to use a different character management tool that shows all of their stuff as I'm tired of getting updated PDFs all of the time.
The desktop version looks better however I don't like the mobile version as much where I am accustomed to swiping to go to different pages (from other apps). My main gripe is having to select the menu from the bottom right is not very obvious (on both desktop and mobile) as that's typically the last place one would look for a menu option. I think overall prefer the 'edit' version over the 'view' version on mobile

Ha. Yes, I'm aware. I didn't mean to imply that they just change markup arbitrarily. Just that as designs change, the developers are not accountable for making sure custom CSS works.
I'm not sure if this is a known issue, but the prices for crossbow bolts (and presumably, all amunition) are listed incorrectly in the equipment screen. 20 crossbow bolts is displayed as having a value of 20gp instead of 1gp.
It seems to be taking the price as is, and not accounting for the fact that you buy them as a bundle of 20 (and would thus only be worth 0.05gp each)

Once you get used to the menu bottom right it’s great. Right next to your thumb, makes it super fast to switch panels.

Oddly enough, I love the button on my phone, but not on my tablet. I have a Kindle Fire 7 and the button is actually somewhat annoying to me, there. I am happy to see they are considering bringing the swipe back so I can use that on the tablet and keep the button on my phone.
The information on the exported character sheet is vastly improved. An improvement on both might be better identification of items with charges, maybe in the combat or action sections.
With a little bit of time I think everyone will get use to the new user interface.
