on the standard array ability score dropdowns, if you beat the roundtrip that the app has to make to the server (which can be easy to do when everyone's hitting the app), you can set multiple abilities to the same unique value. it doesn't totally break the app, once the server response arrives the duplicate value gets emptied out. and you can always grab the dropdown again and pick a valid number afterwards.
not super critical, but it definitely lacks a bit of polish.
Bug: The spell list on your character does not show rituals unless they are prepared. Classes that can cast rituals without having them prepared (like Wizard) should always show them.
Improvement: When you manage spells to add new known spells you can't expand them to see what they actually do. This forces the user to use two browser tabs/windows and manually search for the spells in the second tab/window. It would be much more user friendly if you could expand spells directly to read the detailed description.
Improvement: Automatically add equipment for the class and background when creating a new character. Choices should be presented with descriptions of the item you pick between. Currently manually searching for and adding all the equipment seems like unnecessary manual work. Adding a pack should add all the items inside it. Maybe in a dropdown so you can collapse/expand the pack? This could be made general for all item bundles and support custom bundles at a later time.
Improvement: When selecting skills in the builder it would be useful to show what attribute each skill uses. Even better (but more work?): Show the full description of the skill.
First pass through the character creator was more or less ok. I find the order of how it goes through creation wonky. I should think it would be race > abilities > class instead of race > class > abilities (the arrow represents choosing next). Especially for those players who like to roll random and make their character from the stats they get.
In addition, I found the fact that some of the character creation 'trees' (or whatever you call them) being hidden a problem. Example, I had to edit my character because I had not selected my skills on the first pass. Same for spells known and sorcerous origin. I expected to be presented with a skills option when hitting next at some point. Personally I would make the user go through most of the options of the class. So example, the path to make a sorcerer would be race > abilities> class > sorcerous origin > metamagic > manage spells > skills > and so on
I also found it pretty annoying that the full PHB class options are not available. Surely you could put it in the Beta character generator without your legal/finance department having a cow.
Bug: Hunter Favored Enemy: "Alternatively, you can select two races of humanoid (such as gnolls and orcs) as favored enemies." This doesn't work in the builder. You can choose "Humanoids" but you can't pick which two.
Keep an eye out for redundancy. Example: The Goliath automatically gets proficiency in Athletics, so I shouldn't be able to select Athletics as a class proficiency. If I were a newbie I would not catch that and be short a proficiency.
I don't see a way to manually add in a fair amount of content, like if I own the physical phb and have access to eldritch knight archetype. I would hope to be able to input this information myself.
This would extend to 3rd party/homebrew classes as well such as the pugilist found on the DMsguild. I expect this is something in the works at the moment, but it was a bit strange to see the lack of this. In addition, I was surprised to see that I did not have the ability to edit existing things such as the dragonborn breath weapon. It seems to me a good reward for a player would be to increase the number of times they could use said breath weapon, but i saw no way of doing so.
The team's going to get some rest and come back ready to parse through it all in the morning.
Many of the issues reported are actually great news for us - they mean data changes that will be pretty simple for our system.
Thanks again for the help!
NO! NO REST FOR THE WICKED!
Also, one thing that really, really bugs me about character creators is that they always assume that backgrounds are strictly set. The CORE (and I want to stress that part, this is NOT a variant rule) rule for backgrounds is that the skill/tool/language/feature choices are suggestions and that you do not have to have the ones suggested with each background. Limiting that choice and continuing the mistaken belief, especially for new players, that you're stuck choosing backgrounds as a package rather than as options, is very frustrating to see.

I'd suggest having players choose Background before asking them what skill proficiencies they want for their class. The background ones are set (well, for many players, above poster excepted) while the class proficiencies offer more leeway, leading to situations where players miss out on skills because they choose class ones before being granted the ones that come with their chosen background.

I second this. Skill selection needs some love to prevent/warn about overlap and make the choices easier to make.
For the character sheets, is there an option to upload a custom avatar for the character? It seems to provide some preset ones but not give the option to pick something of your choice in the editor.

Spelling: The past tense of "to cast" is "cast" not "casted". When you cast a spell the tooltip that pops up says "Casted ...".

Bug: Character creation - [Home - Character preferences - Manage XP]:
When choosing your characters level. Set your level to anything greater than 1. This is the new minimum level, not able to set it back to lvl 1.
The remove xp menu does not work.

When selecting languages there were some creatures listed such as "Giant Eagle" "Yeti" and "Winter Wolf"

Improvement: Add a "Dawn" button to the limited use panel to reset anything that recharges at dawn.
Bug: the Draconic Resilience feat of the Sorcerer (Draconic Origin) doesn't get applied. My AC is still 10+DEX instead of 13+DEX.
(Awesome work so far though, guys!)
