This has the potential to be the slickest character generator I've seen since the one that came on cd with my 3rd edition PHB. Good work folks.
I would very much like to see more intelligent skill management. Skills (and at least languages too) remain available to select redundantly. Selections on lists should be removed or made grey/invalid when they have already been picked elsewhere or come with some element of the character.
Similarly, it is inconvenient to have to select skills in up to three different locations (race/class/background) without knowing which ones will be available later. A 'global' skill selection interface that shows which skills are available from all skill-granting sources at once would be one reasonable way of fixing this.
Alright, I've made a character up to 20 for every class now, and so I've got one more bullet-point dump for you sweet sweet devs.
It’d be nice to incorporate Fighting Styles for warrior classes into their attacks, or they might be easily forgotten. Constantly remembering to add a +2 to attack or damage will probably be annoying. Maybe this will come with the better equipment manager if it allows you to specify what’s in which hand?
Sometimes when I bring up my characters screen, I see characters that aren’t mine. You guys probably know about that though?
There’s no choice for the Rangers’ two humanoid races option, you can only choose Humanoids in general.
The second favoured enemy for the Ranger at 6th level and the third one at 14th level have nothing in the dropdown menu.
I’d like to be able to look at equipment while I’m picking it; currently it’s just names.
The draconic bloodline sorcerer currently has no ability to choose the colouration of their draconic heritage.
Having the sorcerer’s metamagic options be more visible would be good. Again, just important abilities being buried in menus.
Background doesn’t glow blue if you don’t have it picked yet. This may cause people to miss out on skills.
I currently don’t see anywhere to pick the Pact of the Tome Warlock’s extra cantrips.
Integrating the background characteristic tables would be cool, so you can just pick/roll them from a table rather than copy-pasting them from the bottom half of the personality screen.
Just built a Druid. is there a plan to let people chose creatures that they can use Wild Shape to become and give them a mini character sheet for?
Example i want to be a Wolf can click the wild shape box and then get a pop up of what I can become and click on it and get stats that i can quickly reference? HP AC Attacks and the such.
So far I really enjoy it, aside from the variety of bugs there are a few things that would make it a lot easier.
First - The equipment selection. Just lumping it all together makes it incredibly difficult to find what you're looking for unless you know the exact name. Put different types of equipment in different searches. Allow a search for Armor separate from a search for weapons, etc.. Also allow custom equipment as an option.
Second - descriptions. You have so much information at your fingertips, but its a pain to have to go back and forth between screen during character creation. Allow the spells, or pieces of equipment show the description when you highlight them.
Third - Multi classing, custom abilities, custom races. Things that are unique to each campaign need to be added as options to the game, to allow for better user customization, perhaps a series of drop down menus if the user decides they want to do something unique.
I'm loving the character builder so far. It calculates everything quite accurately so far for the Ranger class. I am looking forward to the custom background so the sheets are more accurate, but I can tell this is going to be a fantastic resource.
When I am using my mobile device, even if I sign out I am able to access my account without signing back in. I was able to get to my character sheet just fine..
There's a bunch of stuff just like... missing from the character creator. There's the goliath on the race list, but not any of the other Volo's guide races, there's only the Fiend listed on the possible Warlock pacts and not the Archfey or the Old Ones, you can only choose from six of the backgrounds... what's up?
Make the search feature better. If i am looking for encumbrance information it should be able to find it by encum.... and make the suggestion for auto fill
I should also be able to toggle between official rules etc. For rules I just want to be able to find what I need to know. I don't care about the forum posts etc.
Hey sorry if this is old, my wood elf monk is not getting the 5 extra movement from being a wood elf. She is only getting the 10 feet From unarmoured movement.
so I didn't look around too hard but it doesn't seem like you can roll back a lvl in the editor once a class is assigned to it. It would be great if you could do that without re-starting a character. Did I miss how to do that? Has it just not been implemented yet? Otherwise, looks nice. I can see me using it in the future can't wait for the final product!
Have been toying around and decided try a multi-classed character. After some faffing setting up with the class, then scores, got it to accept the 2nd class once the scores where in place. On show character sheet it just spins the red disk. Thought it might be the server but can access other chars normally. Have left it in my account, character has the name MultiCTest if it helps the developers.
missing Rogue Archetypes .. the only available is Thief (work in progress I assume) missing assassin.
Created a 16lvl char (fighter thief)... I believe some attribute increase/feat are missing
Equipment system is great and very usable, love it, potential improvement tabs or pre-filtered subtypes to restrict the search like in "armours" "weapons" "wonderous" and based on rarity or an advanced search to pre-filter the data-set based on the object properties.
I was wondering why is it when you equip an Ioun Stone of Mastery your Proficiency doesn't go up that +1? Also, (and this has probably been asked before), when are Druids getting the Circle of the Moon option, and more the backgrounds from the PHB, etc.? Are those not SRD?
Also, I love the Character Builder. It is so easy to set up all your characters. I can't wait for the app and the purchasable content later (Volo's, etc.). The anticipation is killing me.
For the beta, only the rules and options provided in the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion are available in Beyond. Once the full platform launches later this summer, the core rule books and others will be available for purchase, and the content within will be available for those that purchase, or have access through a DM's subscription.
A dice roller for manual entry stats would be great.
Adding multiple items, i.e. 20 arrows, hangs the equipment window.
Drop down selection for background info based on which background is selected instead of having to manually cut and paste. Place selection of background before the boxes for information. Allow for random dice selection to auto fill backgrounds on manual character sheet creation.
Make class items a tick box at creation where there is a limited choice, auto add items where there is no choice.
Have all items listed in character class/backgrounds in the database for selection i.e. signet ring, war trophy
Character lists currently populate at random with characters created by other users.
Just a few bugs/thoughts.

It seems like the oaths in the Paladin class, the ones of Vengance and the Ancients specifically, isn't in the character builder

Also i am noticing that when i level my its forcing me to reselect my cantrips
I dont know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but there are only 2 feats available, and a number of missing stock backgrounds
Also noticed that the roguish archtypes is missing assassin and arcane trickster
Also the menu is really wierd

Hi! Everything is looking great! But under char creater, race, human variant, choose feat only grappler and svirfneblin magic appear.
Great job so far! Looking forward to the finished product!

OK I think I actually broke it.

Hi all,
firstly .. great job! HUGE THANKS TO THE TEAM!

Some issues I found using the builder:
Heavy Armor still uses DEX modifier when calculating AC (wrong)
There is no way to equip a weapon in offhand so the damage will be calculated wrong for characters without the two weapon fighting style.
When using a class & background with skills that overlap I can pick the same skill twice giving me 1 less skill than intended.
When picking backgrounds it would have been nice to be able to quick select the listed background traits not just inputting them yourself.
Finding out how to level up was a hassle, feels wrong to have to go back into "edit character".
