I definitely need these page numbers. Just yesterday I was remotely running a game for some new players, and didn't have my physical books with me. I was attempting to direct them to the warlock spell list, but instead of being able to just give them the page number, I had to try to describe where it was in the PHB until they finally found it.

That shouldn't be happening.
They couldn't use the Table of Contents or the index in the PHB? It's in the index under Warlock, spell list.
I’m pleased to see this post is still going strong. Its a shame after nearly two years this feature hasnt been implemented. I’ve not seen a whole lot of development in DnD Beyond to warrant it not being included. Would be interested to understand the rational. I do hope its not another licensing issue.
There is a clickable icon or word or other feature in a convenient yet unobtrusive location on the navigation portion of the display. (Inside a corner of the navigation bar; left, right, or inside the "Jump to" drop down; inside the navigation drop-down in the apps.)
Clicking this icon does two things.
1) It opens up a little box directly to the side of it where you can enter a page number, hit enter, and immediately be taken to that page number in the book you are currently perusing.
2) At the top of each page of the book, immediately to the right of the first content (whether standard text, an image, or a sidebar block) the page number appears. It should be unobtrusive; probably with a gray coloration and the same size text or slightly smaller than main text content of the book).
Clicking the icon again causes the box and the page numbers to disappear.
This allows for full functionality. If you want to go to a particular page in a book, you can open up a book and enter the page number in the box. (It takes you to the place the number is located, ie, the top of the page.) If you are reading the book and want to find out what page you are on, you just click the icon (if you haven't already), and then look up the page from your current location until you see a page number, and that's the page you are on.
Further developments could make every word internally labeled with a page number to allow for returning page numbers when performing searches, but that isn't necessary for the main functionality.
Do your players not use D&D Beyond? The Warlock spells are located at the top of the page under the 'Game Rules' dropdown.
They shouldn't have to, that's the point of cross-platform compatibility (and the physical books are still the "base" platform). And no, they are new players of various ages and pretty unfamiliar with it all.
They couldn't use the Table of Contents or the index in the PHB? It's in the index under Warlock, spell list.
They eventually found it, but if I had had my physical book with me, I would have found it very quickly and given them the page number and saved both of us time. We should be able to just cross-reference things back and forth from D&D Beyond and the physical books. D&D Beyond should make it easier to use the content, not harder.

Ways to find warlock spell list off the top of my head:
Game rules - spells - warlock
Game rules - classes - warlock - link in spellcasting feature
Sources - PHB - spells - warlock spells
Sources - PHB - classes - warlock - link to spells chapter - warlock spells
Building a warlock in character sheet and managing spells
Using the search bar and typing "warlock spells"
Doing a Google search for warlock spells and clicking the DDB result
It should have taken 30 seconds or less unless you had never used the internet before. Using a page number would have only been easier than maybe 1 of the above methods, and they would have had the opportunity to see most of these options on the way to navigating to where they type in the page number.
Pretty much the only time you would need to use page number is if that number was the only thing you had to go on and not the name or context of the rule you were looking for. Like if the DM said "it is on page 200 and that is all I'm going to tell you." Whereas "it's the warlock spell list" is all they need to navigate directly to it using the site.

So you had the weird case where you were using DDB and they were using a physical PHB, not DDB, and they needed to find something in the PHB, but needed your help finding something clearly included in the index?
That's not a DDB problem. Had they been using DDB, they could have just searched. Or selected the Warlock spells section. DDB would have made it easy for them.
And the PHB wasn't the problem. It has an index. Warlock spells are clearly marked in the index, exactly where you expect them to be.
The problem was trying to to look for channel numbers on Netflix.
It is a DDB problem. Often searching will bring up entries from other books and things that are not related. A page number in a specific book is EXACT and despite other methods of finding things is a tried and true way that already exists in the books.
It should also be pointed out that DDB staff has answered that because the compendium rearranges some entries to make information easier to read, page numbers may not be in order or have bits from a different page interrupting a page.
This is most notable with boxed rules like interactions.
Also, the format in which DDB receives book data does not have page numbers, so they would need to dedicate several hours per book to even compile it (not to mention the time it takes to change the interface to use this manually compiled data).
It is clear that many people see a benefit and some would do not. What I am struggling to understand is why those who dont see a benefit feel the need to debate those who do. This is a suggestions thread not a ‘lets argue for the sake of it it thread.’ It would be helpful if people asked themselves ‘What am I hoping to constructively achieve by my post?’

I agree it would be nice. I'm always in favor of more user options.
I only "debate" 2 types of comments: "This would be easy to add," to which I repeat what DDB staff has said about how difficult it is to add. And "this is essential," to which I point out how automated it is and page numbers make it harder to know what rule you are looking up.
It is basically asking for a GPS to support atlas page numbers.
I agree, it'd be a nice QoL improvement for those users that need to translate between physical and digital, but I think that's an edge case. I'm able to find stuff easily enough just by knowing the chapter and section.
That's great for you. I'm a newish player and DM and I'm not able to find all of what I need to find easily. And so I search here and on Google and I get page numbers. Which are almost useless for the digital content here, except as a general " biggish number, sounds like the mid book area?"
It is basically asking for a GPS to support atlas page numbers.
Eh? No? There is a huge number of companies that make GPS compatible software or gadgets. There is also a huge number of companies that make Atlases. Most of these companies aren't affiliated with each other, so no it is very very different from asking for a GPS to support atlas page numbers.
Hi All. I’m currently having problems with page references. At present there is no way of cross referencing between DeadTree copies and D&D Beyond. Many websites (e.g. Donjon), channels (Critical Roll, Take 20, Dungeon Dudes) and many players reference by page number. This makes using Beyond a bit cumbersome. This is particularly problematic if a player tries to refer the DM to a passage, mid-game.
Sure, it can be located with some searching but that misses the point. As a digital source, Beyond has the advantage of being more efficient. That advantage is lost if we cannot pick up these references.
I understand as a digital source it doesn’t have physical page numbers but a solution can still be easily implemented.
Other page readers have a location point (eg Kindle) and physical page numbers can easily be pegged to the first word of that location. A search facility by page number would then allow for ease of cross referencing.
Please please implement. It would make life so much easier.
+1 for wanting page numbers. Especially seeing as character sheets reference page #’s from this very site. It makes it harder to find references after exporting one to a PDF.
Yet another reason page numbers would be nice. I realize that errata is meant to be applied to the compendium and books but it would be nice to be able to verify by page number.
Agreed completely, I'd love to see this implemented and the errata just reminded me of how useful it would be. I've often struggled with not having the 1-to-1 page number to reference within my groups when discussing rules as (I think someone brought this up previously) my tables typically do not use D&D Beyond, which makes linking to content outside of the SRD impossible and slows down look-ups. Other media that references pages, like the aforementioned guide videos and posts, also becomes a little cumbersome without pages on here.
Bumping again. I wanted to find the entry for this dragon in the book that's its from. I can find the stats for the dragon but finding where it is in the book is a practice of hunting and pecking through the chapter links. What's especially frustrating is that the monster entry has a page number in it!
I realize that the books get reformatted but leaving the page numbers in, regardless, would still give us a valuable way to look for things.

This would really be value added to the product.

Also it’s a simple request of a company that asks for requests.

When looking things up online people (Jeremy Crawford) will generally give page numbers to reference.
