I apologize if this question has been asked. Since tabaxi now can be small or medium in size, has anyone found an updated height/weight chart pertinent to Monsters of the Multiverse?
As per the descriptions in M3, pick whichever row you want on this chart and use that:
Character creation on D&D Beyond is a huge mess right now. There's no way I can even tell my players something simple like "just use the new Mordenkainen's version" because most of the original races (human, elf, dwarf, halfling, etc.) aren't included in the update. They can't even sort by sourcebook because (unlike many other D&D Beyond interfaces), you can't choose more than one sourcebook as an option. You can only sort that list one book at a time. That means I have to create a comprehensive list for players of which race "version" is allowed in my campaign. (Why weren't the "original" races included in this update? That seems inexcusable.)
On a balance note: Are kobolds overpowered now? (That's a question I never thought I'd write.) A party of Kobolds could cycle "Draconic Cry" uses through multiple battles, keeping the entire party at advantage nearly the entire time.
It's kind of hidden, but you are able to change which sourcebooks you share with your players in a menu under your campaign. So you can simplify the character creation process by temporarily removing Volo's and Tome of Foes from the list of shared sourcebooks. Doesn't excuse the fact that they need to find a way to sort these new versions more usefully in the character creator, but it'll help for the moment if you just want to use the new versions of older races.
The builder currently has the name of what book the character is from. If there are duplicates they are next to each other so just say “lf the race has a Monsters of the multiverse option you must use that one.

Yeah, I get that. But people are people, and that method is going to cause confusion for players and annoyance for DMs as they have to review characters carefully to recognize which template they were built from. However, I agree that what you suggest is the best current solution. Just not a very user-proof one.
The way I see it, the book is a great way to save money.
If you already own MToF and VGtM, then you save money by frankly not needing to buy this new book if you are content with / prefer the older versions and you do not feel compelled to have a complete collection of 5e products
If you dont own MToF or VGtM, then you get a ton of monsters and players options to use , and you are saving money by buying MotM instead of paying for both of the other books. The only major loss (in my opinion) is not getting the Blood War lore from MToF, but thats only a loss if that was something you cared about reading in the first place. If you wanted to learn more, there are also plenty of wiki pages and videos that discuss the lore surrounding that event.

I very much disagree.
It is sad that newbies will not be able to access that lore. The blood war part was not the only good bit in it.
It is quite unfair to people who already bought both books to make a new book with important changes to the game. And have them learn when they buy it that the new changes aren't really new at all.
Also, what about the people who buy books just because they are official (some people actually do this)? Their money is wasted now.

BoringBard's long and tedious posts somehow manage to enrapture audiences. How? Because he used Charm Person, the #1 bard spell!

If this were the only reason they bought this book, their money was wasted to begin with.
Depends on the person, but yes, we can generally agree on that statement.
However, this mainly is a secondary reason for buying D&D books. If you had the choice between something official and canon, or something unofficial and not canon, and they were equally interesting, which would you buy (assuming you only had the budget for one)?

That is a hard question to answer in a hypothetical. I don't spend money on anything that I won't use and "official" isn't that big a deal to me since I run a homebrew world any way. BUT I have to admit that more often than not, 3rd party products aren't the best.

explain.
Buying a book just put on a shelf and not use it is a waste of money.
Eh, it's their money. If that's what they want to do with it and they're not skipping child support payments or going into debt over it I don't see what the problem is.
Many people would not want to do that, but why worry about it?

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

That's like saying that buying a painting or other artwork is a waste of money.
Some people like the way books look on their shelf. *shrug*
So you are saying MMM is comparable to a work of art?
I'd rather put it on display than anything by Thomas Kinkade. And I'm sure you've seen how much some people will pay for a three inch tall vinyl figure of an anime character.

No, but a book collection is. Personally, I'd rather have a shelf of books than a painting.
I have scores, if not hundreds, of gaming books on my shelves from games I've never played, and probably never will. I enjoy them the same way a coin collector enjoys coins.

The PHB has a more extensive table that includes Gnomes for a different Small option than Halfling, if you have access to that: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/phb/personality-and-background#HeightandWeight
Ahh, quite right. I hadn’t noticed that gnomes weren’t on the table in the free basic rules. Nice catch.
