I got a question: I am a unpaying user so I get I have 6 total character slots. 5 are bring used in 5 campaigns. My question is, I have a campaign myself and could only create 1 unassigned character for that campaign. I get it uses up my last slot, but when I delete the character from the campaign and my slots, does anyone know why it won't it let me create another?
I could not find answers to the questions below when I searched. Apologies if they have been answered previously.
I am a player, not a DM. I am in a campaign, and I want to provide the DM a copy of a character I created. I have added the character to the campaign and unassigned him. Now come my questions... when the DM claims this character, is the character moved from my account to his? In other words, will claiming this character cause it to disappear from my six character slots, or does a copy of the character remain in my account? If a copy remains in my account and the DM modifies the claimed character on his end, do the changes show up on my copy as well?

If the DM claims the character, it be becomes their character, and it disappears from your slots.
Clicking on the name of the character top-left of the charsheet will open a menu; clicking "manage levels" from that menu takes you to the builder where you can add a new level. Clicking on the anvil icon (top-right) will take you there as well.

If you look at your campaign, there’s a button “Create Unassigned Character”. If you already have an assigned character, there will be an “Unassign” button. You can only create unassigned characters in your own campaign, if you create one in someone else’s it’ll automatically be assigned to you.

I made a character for my boyfriend since I have access to a lot of source material from another campaign. I made a sharing campaign, made his character for him (with him telling me what to do), and he assigned it to himself. So therein I ask, Can another account take the character from the campaign?

Not unless the character is unassigned first and the other account gets an invite. If a character is assigned to someone though, they can leave the campaign with it if they want.

I'm simply beginning with D&D Beyond (truly, simply gazing out with D&D). Playing through Lost Mines of Phandelver with my children, and have them each playing a person with me playing 2 extra characters who are essentially only curious to see what happens. I just made my two extra DM-controlled characters and am attempting to add them to the mission yet can't sort out some way to do that. Each time I attempt to add an unassigned person, it takes me to the person manufacturer. Yet, I've effectively constructed the characters I need to add. How would I add these two characters as unassigned?

If you have already created the characters and wish to add them to the campaign, copy the campaign join link and navigate to it in your browser. There you will have the option to join with an existing character.

After which they can be usassigned, and via the same campaign link your kids can claim them.

Nevermind. I figured it out
If nobody uses the unassigned character will it show up in things automatically or just be left aside forgotten until claimed
