Well, all I wanted was Eberron, Spelljammer and Planescape. In the olden days I was partial to the Realms, so maybe I'd like a Cormyr and Dalelands expansion, but that's it.
Yes, yes, yes. Cormyr would be awesome. One of the reasons I like D&D as much as I do is because of the show Nights of Eveningstar (it was on the official D&D YouTube Channel) , which took place in that setting

Today’s question: Do you plan to update to the next edition in ‘24, or stick with 5e?
Unsure, really, because it will depend on my players, but…
1 - I have 1e, 2e, 3e sourcebooks as well as 5e.
2 - I created an entire set of setting specific rules that more or less replace about 60% of 5e for the new game and campaign. They are wholly based in all the underlying aspects of the setting, and required significant alterations to meet requests of players.
3 - I have set things up so that either the rules from 5e or the custom rules could be used. Custom monsters follow a set up akin to 5e, so use of existing ones is easy. Intentionally.
4 - I set the campaign up to allow the sessions using regular rules here.
and, so, given all of that, odds are in their favor that I will get 6e unless I have to switch jobs before it comes out. In that case, all bets are off, lol.

Any way the wind blows. If it's good, if other people like it, if people want to play it, and if it's easier to explain to beginners, then probably. I don't plan on getting all the books right away- I'm generally pretty frugal in that department- but I don't doubt that I'll get the PHB, since I imagine that's where the most significant changes would be (and man oh man would I love the feeling of cracking open the PHB for the first time again; so much more learned and understanding, yet still so much to discover).

Today’s question: Do you plan to update to the next edition in ‘24, or stick with 5e?
I'll probably keep using 5e for a good while, just because I've spent a fair amount of money on it and I'm still having fun with 5e. 1DD looks good so far, but I'm not done with 5e yet.
That being said, I am using 1 or 2 rules from the 1DD playtest in my own games. Chances are I'll likely end up running a mash of One D&D and 5e in the near future.
Waiting to see what the new edition looks like before I decide. My players are fairly ambivalent about the playtest material, as am I, but there are definitely some changes to be excited about. At the very least, I'll be incorporating some mechanics and class features into 5e.
I intend to pilfer what I can from the new rules. Specifically, the non-combat actions, revised hiding, and exhaustion. I'm not running a game currently though. The games I'm playing in, we haven't really made up our minds on it.
I expect I’ll switch—there’s a few things I don’t like about 5e that OneD&D is improving upon. How messy that switch will be depends on how backwards compatible the next iteration might be and where I am in any campaigns. I wouldn’t ask players to change species and classes mid campaign, so there might be some finagling to get the new system to work - or, if close to a good ending point, I might try try to wrap things up approaching the change over so there can be a clean break.
To me, 1D&D is just an extension of 5e, so I am using both. I guess I am technically switching since I plan to incorporate the new stuff, but I will still let players use 5e stuff.
The core game mechanics are the same: you still roll the same type of dice (attack, damage, saving throw) and have the same type of actions (Action, Bonus, Reaction). In 5e, you can already run two very different characters based on very different optional systems in the same campaign (PC vs sidekick character creation, epic vs gritty rest, spellpoints vs spellslots, XP vs level based advancement, etc.; not really recommended to mix optional rules together for most tables, but it is doable), so throwing a third character creation from 1D&D into the mix is not really going to change things much.
Today’s question: Do you plan to update to the next edition in ‘24, or stick with 5e?
It's far too early to make that sort of determination

So far I and the people I play with have really liked most of what we have seen so we are fairly likely to make the switch. I am not worried about having to buy new books, If I were I would be playing one of the older editions still.
I'm a 1DDer through and through. Unless something drastic happens, then I'm gonna make the switch over and see what cool stuff the new edition will contain.
I’ll probably stick with 5e. For the people I play with, switching the rules would be majorly confusing. We’re all relatively new to dnd, and it would make things very difficult to suddenly change what we’re doing. Honestly, I’d probably lose players.
However, I may mine some rules from 1Dnd, if they seem more reasonable than 5e rules. I’d probably treat it like a supplemental rules set like the dm’s guide optional rules.
With the amount of money I've already invested over decades, ATM I'm leaning towards No.
Like AEDorsay, and probably a lot of older players here, I've got a giant bookcase of D&D going back to the BECMI sets. I am about to start a Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign using 5e, and after that I think I will likely try Pathfinder 2e, or even the new Kobold Press game, which should be out around the same time 6e launches I imagine.
D&D 6e would have to be so monumentally amazing, ground-breaking, and paradigm-shifting for me to consider buying all new books. If it's backwards compatible, and the new rules can be used without needing the books, I may just use what I like for 5e games without investing. I also don't see myself using the D&D VTT unless it is equally amazing, and affordable. Since I run games other than D&D, I will likely want to keep my money with Roll20.

Ambivalent. One D&D hasn't really wowed me to date, and the things I have liked aren't really worth the $ of a whole core book, so I don't see any reason compelling me to buy into a new edition right out the gate.
That's for my regular games. I'm also trying to make myself available as a DM/GM at some FLGSs, who usually have more DM need than GM need. So I could see myself picking up core books for the new edition they'll probably be trying to move if I'm still enjoying that.
I guess I'm taking the One D&D pdfs and incorporating things I like (so far that's really just the search/study distinction and some other stuff that have sorta been part of 5e discussion and house rules anyway) and plopping them into my 5e game, but I've also picked up some things like the minions rules (which I think go back to 4e, but I like how MCDM studio is handling them in their 5e monster book, I think that might be their last "official" 5e product before just going forward with their in house system). So my "home" game will probably look like that sort of D&D than whatever One D&D ends up calling itself.
