Question: If it wasn’t named “Dungeons & Dragons,” what would the name be?
if I recall correctly, it was a toss between alliterative and descriptive. Been way too many years, but it was something like Epic Fantasy Game or Dungeons and Dragons, and the boys of one said they liked the dragon thing better.
that said, I used to laugh at all the alliterative stuff — until I played bunnies and burrows in a watership down style game and that forever ended that whole nightmare, lol. And yes, that is a real game.
My suggestions would not normally be printable or licensable. My communities have corrupted me.

The story I heard called it “The Fantasy Game” during development - though I doubt their lawyers would let them get away with such a generic phrase for trademark reasons (same basic reason Magic: the Gathering is called Magic: The Gathering - the first expansion of the game then simply titled “Magic” was “The Gathering”—their lawyers told them calling a game “Magic” was dumb and to add “the Gathering” to the game’s official name).
I expect Blackmoor, Dave Arneson’s campaign setting for the first games, was also in the running for a name.
According to legend—and so much history about the early game is myth created by Gygax to make him look good, so it is a bit hard to trust—his two year old daughter reacted most positively to “Dungeons and Dragons”, so that’s the name they stuck with.
Question: If it wasn’t named “Dungeons & Dragons,” what would the name be?
Warriors & Wizards
Monsters & Mages
Strongholds & Serpents
Castles & Cauldrons
Swords & Sorcery
Now that I think about it, Dungeons & Dragons is a great name.
I go with this one, because no one has put forward a creature that would be anywhere close to being as evocative as a dragon. Vampires or werewolves would feel too boxed in to a gothic / horror atmosphere. Anything with "& Gods" would make the satanic panic look like a afternoon picnic, even if the game stayed with well-known & generally accepted Earth religions. Maybe a sphinx? There aren't a lot of creatures that the general public recognizes as being a bad mamma-jamma like they do with dragons.
Question: If it wasn’t named “Dungeons & Dragons,” what would the name be?
Death & Dungeons. Would summarize how D&D was really first introduced. Endless amount of random dungeons and death waited for your character behind every door. (And sometimes death was the door!)
Question: do you have special or designated "D&D clothes"?
When I used to DM my games, in person yes. I wore one of two D&D shirts - one is a huge D20 smashing a dragon, the other one says, "If the DM is smiling, it's already too late."
Now on Tuesdays, at work, I traditionally wear my Stranger Things shirt that the kids wore.

Giants are pretty iconic fantasy creatures, and there's some good variety you can get with them, so a DM (or GM, I guess) wouldn't have to use the same repetitive monster over and over again to live up to the title. The problem is, I can't think of any other words that would go on the other side of the ampersand. Nothing has the right "g" sound.

Goblins also feel like a good fit, but Goblins & Giants doesn't sound quite right to me and I can't think of any other "g" sounds that work.

Question of the Day: If you could play D&D with anybody, dead or alive, who would be in your party?
The exact same group that I already have. :)
Except, since you said I have the choice, I'd prefer them dead.

I’d be inclined to agree, but I think I’d definitely want to play a game with the cast of Critical Role (and maybe Joe Manganiello) or with Professor DM of the channel Dungeon Craft. Then of course there’s the fellow up North running a 40 year long game. That would be fun to play in. And, how has no one said Gary Gygax yet?

Professor DM would be great to play with. Robert Wardhaugh's playstyle seems a little too tough for my tastes. I like the idea that if your character dies, you're permanently out of the campaign, but it sounds kinda harsh.
Gygax doesn't have the best reputation here, which is probably why he hasn't been mentioned.

My current group, but in person instead of online (we span the US coasts so it's hard). Otherwise the Critical Role cast (yeah yeah it's a basic answer but come on it would be amazing).

I wouldn't trade my current party for anything. But if it were for a one-off or for a different game, I'd probably go with:
Bob (surname unknown, Bob World Builder on YouTube)
Ben Milton (Questing Beast on YouTube)
Jacob (surname unknown, XP to Level 3 on YouTube)
Anyone from Critical Role and/or Dimension 20
So yeah, pretty much just a bunch of TTRPG YouTubers lol. You guys here would also be up there on the list.
I'd bet Tolkien would also be an excellent player. And Terry Pratchett.

I was just watching the Britbox show Beyond Paradise and noticed a few D&D books in the opening scene of episode two.
In what movie and TV shows have you seen D&D referenced? Not counting the D&D movies.
No Matt Colville?? I'm shocked. Shocked I tell you.
