Question of the Day: If you could play D&D with anybody, dead or alive, who would be in your party?
Tolkien - so he could rip my world to shreds and I'd love it.
Weis & Hickman - so they could give pointers on excellent character development.
My father - just to have one more day.
Weis and Hickman. That’s a great one. I would love to play the new Dragonlance module with them and see them rip it to shreds and make it into a lore-accurate game.
Ooh i would play with Jim Henson, he would be an incredible homebrewer and storyteller, terry pratchett, same reasons and i would just honestly love to meet him, also tolkein and some of my frens and some of y’all forum frens

I have more too! Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss! Playing with them would be completely insane. They’d make the most complicated character backstories ever made!

Mister Rogers. He'd be the kindest and most considerate collaborator at the table, and watching him try to empathize his way through combat would be a thing of beauty.

it is an ode to peace, a dalliance of distraction amid the despairing destruction and dreadful drums of the disenchanted and displeased. Such fleeting forums find first ought else but fanciful flights of frequently flimsy whimsy and fellowship among the far flung. To end such a wond’rous way would woe betide those whose malodorous malice might make such mincemeat of this mighty missive chain.
or something like that.

Everyone else has answered - but to throw it in there...
If you've looked through the forum, anyone can pop in here and ask any kind of question ("Who would you play with dead or alive if you could?", "Do you have any special preparation for your game?", etc etc). It's fun to have a centralized thread that is D&D related, but just fun, community raised questions.
Question of the day: What music inspires you to create characters or games, if at all?
For me a single lyric from a song can inspire a character or game, like the song “Heaven Nor Hell” by Volbeat, which is where I got the idea for my current game. Irish tunes get my imagination going sometimes as well. Most of all I get ideas from very dramatic songs, usually sadder sounding ones, like the “Edge of the Sun,” which was the inspiration for a short story, a character, and an entire world.

Games, TV shows, movies, and books. I recently watched Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and have been joking to my group that I'll inevitably unconsciously steal the characters and plot points for my D&D games.
Music is also a source of inspiration., actual lyrics less so for me. Louie Zong has an excellent dungeon synth album that I have yet to actually use it in any of my games, but it's one of my favourite albums:

I am in a campaign set in the real world but hundreds of years in the future and monsters have appeared so it is post-apocalyptic. My character is a warforged bard of lore. The ancient lore he collects are cassettes, dvds, tapes, and records of 60s through90s songs and he has cassette, dvd, etc. players in his chest to play them. So when fighting vampires in the Appalachian mountains he plays Metallica, Journey, Elvis, Beetles, and more to empower his allies and weaken his enemies.
I also listen to a lot of movie soundtracks, classical music, epic music, and stuff like that when working and world building and it can be inspiring.

im a big fan of instrumental music, and I think about it as a way to prepare my world and encounter building. My players are exploring a ruined underground city at the moment and I’ve been using some stripped down piano versions of the xenoblade video game soundtrack as inspiration for it.
I might have also designed an encounter around the first line of “Roxanne” by the Police. Except Roxanne was a souped up steel defender in the shape of a panther and the red light was its attack mode

That setting sounds awesome. Is it sci-fi or more of a fantasy world?

Mostly fantasy. It is Earth, but monsters from mythology have returned from the past and have overrun the world and destroyed most technology. Society has been set back to around the medieval ages, but guns and stuff could still be found, but they would be ancient artifacts. Our characters are Paupers, traveling hero’s that protect people from the surrounding darkness. I am not the DM so I don’t know everything, but I am pretty sure that New Orleans is where the Fey have established their kingdom. Also the currency is moonshine.

I’m not much of a music person, so I don’t really listen to much.
