Is there a way to add an NPC character sheet to my central campaign hub without my players being able to see it? I have multiple NPCs created for upcoming arcs, but I want their presence to be a surprise and I certainly don't want people viewing their stats and abilities. If this were a physical game, I'd keep their character sheets in my campaign folder and hide them behind a screen when I needed to reference them. I can't find a similar option in this digital experience, however.
Thanks, that is my current workaround but I dislike not being able to have all my information in one place. I believe this is supposed to be the advantage of having a campaign hub—there are secret DM-only notes, so it'd be nice to have DM-only character sheets.
I suppose if this doesn't exist, maybe this should be a feature request.
Unless something has changed very recently, your players shouldn't be able to see the character sheets for your NPCs if you add them, although they can see name, class, etc that appears on the little banner/icon/whatever you call it. If that's more than you want them to see, you can add links to their characters sheets (or their "Monster" stats if you build NPCs that way) in the DM Private notes section. Not as nice as having them show up as a character, but maybe handier than no link at all.
Thank you, that's helpful to know that they can't see the character sheets. I still wish there were an option to have them be invisible until I want them to know the character exists, though. I have this idealized vision of the tool where it acts as my physical DM screen, which it seems like it was not designed to do.
You can add them to the campaign as unassigned and then immediately deactivate them from the campaign. It runs the risk of someone looking at it for the tiny bit of time while it's active, but then they're there and the players can't see them.

You could always create them and not add them to the campaign until they need to be added. That seems like the easiest solution.
