what title says: i have over 500 characters as im a dm and a player need to know if hasbro is fudging this up and being stupid and trying to force everyone to update to the 2024 ruleset
The only people who would know are the DDB staff (and not necessarily all of those either). I imagine it should be fine...but it's not like DDB is unwilling to take shortcuts etc, so I'd wait until staff respond.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Broken as in the character sheet fails to load? It shouldn't. If so, that is a bug the dev team will look into.
Broken as in the rules aren't compatible? As far as I know that's primarily a Shepherd Druid issue.
The only change to homebrew will be to which version a tooltip points to.
Question: A spell like healing word is available to bards, clerics, and druids (in addition to alchemist artificers.) If I create a homebrew copy of it now, will those tags for making it available to bards, clerics, and druids continue pointing to the current bard/cleric/druid or will they point to the 5.5 bard/cleric/druid?
Almost certainly not, barring software bugs. Why would they?
Some spend a lot of time using tooltips in their homebrew, which ultimately ends up on character sheets. I expect some problems to arise especially considering how particular tooltips can be. So any tooltip issues could cause character sheet issues as well, it took them a few weeks to get the new marketplace functioning properly and they wanted it to work.

No
can you be more specific? i just need to know all my characters wont be wiped/deleted
What's going to change is, as I understand it:
Your homebrew won't change except that if it uses other spells, it will link to the new ones.
okay thank you! i just hope my dm characters and my player characters wont be deleted

No characters or homebrew will be deleted.

Thank you for clarifying! I just was worried for nothing then; I'll definitely be buying the books then
Will any of the characters or homebrew be broken?

This is a signature. It was a simple signature. But it has been upgraded.
