I do no plan to upgrade to the new 2024 content. At least not soon. Nor would I ask my players to pay more for the new stuff . My campaign, and my players are too invested in the 5e world. It's sad that we cannot just choose the rule set we're using with out the new content steamrolling us in some way. It does sound like they're trying to accommodate the 'legacy' stuff in some way, but a good amount does not.
So, this leaves us with a dilemma. We could go back to paper character sheets. The main problem we had there was each player had to really understand all the numbers and get the math right (which some got totally wrong, either by adding too much or too little). The DnDBeyond app solved this for us.
My question: Has anyone found an alternative digital character tool that works close to the one here? Thanks in advance.
Minor rant: I was hesitant to buy digital content here because as a customer I have very little control over it when they choose to make changes. At least they can't reach out and change all the physical books I've purchased over the years! I was excited when DnD took off (I started playing in 1982) and even when larger companies got invested, but now I think we're seeing the downside. Good ol' capitalism at work. Buy, buy, buy! Gotta keep our investors happy. lol
Befiriend a DM on Roll20, and they can create a campaign and name you the guest DM, as well as invite all your players to use the books they own.
I recommend having the DM actually be a player in your game, although there is a secret market for purchasing a guest DM campaign instead of buying all the books again on a different platform.

Roll20/Demiplane, Foundry, Fantasy Grounds, and Alchemy, I believe are most of the options that have contracts with WotC or are using SRD/CC 5e.
In my opinion, none work as well for 5e as DDB does.
