Hello, just checking that I understand how Beyond's pricing works, before I start investing. I'm a first time GM with a group of mostly first time players, so I'm looking to avoid spending too much before I'm absolutely sure that we're all into it and want it to be a long term thing.
So does the Master Tier subscription actually unlock any content, or is it just to allow data sharing between me and my players? So in order to get access to everything, and share it all with my players, I would need to purchase The Legendary Bundle, and get a Master Tier subscription? There's no Netflix style option where I can pay a certain amount per month to gain access to everything that I lose if I stop paying?
That is correct, the Matter Tier subscription does not unlock content. It does allow the sharing of purchased content. However, it does not need to be the GM necessarily. A player can get the Master Tier and every content purchased in that campaign slot gets shared.
Cool, and does purchasing the Legendary bundle give me a significant discount versus purchasing the books individually (other than the 15% discount on future releases), or is it just the total combined price of everything, for the convenience of not having to go through the marketplace buying everything one-by-one?
Just keep in mind that the legendary bundle also includes all the adventures. I haven't done the math, but it might be cheaper for you to purchase just the books with character options than to purchase the entire bundle. The amount you spent on that would be deducted from the cost of the Legendary if you decide to purchase later. You could also purchase just the character options from the books other than the PHB (I suggest getting the entire PHB). E.G. just the races from Volos, just the subraces from Mordenkainen's, etc. If it were me with mostly new players, I would choose to limit their race (and maybe class) choices, and therefore wouldn't need everything.

Oh, so just to confirm, everything I buy individually would be deducted from the total cost of the Legendary bundle? Meaning that if I were to get the Legendary bundle later on, I wouldn't be getting double-charged? That's awesome, if so.
I was thinking of doing exactly what you suggested - just working out what campaign would be best for my group once we're done with LMoP, then buying the most essential bits to allow my players to use the character builder here. I was previously playing with a DM who had basically everything unlocked, and the character builder just makes everything so much easier, especially with the magic classes.

You are correct! This is one of the things that makes DDB great. They ensure you don't pay twice for content.
Another nice benefit of the Legendary Bundle is that the 15% off stacks with the 25% off coupons that are always floating around, which brings new purchases down into the $15-20 range.
What do I need to purchase to be able to build Characters such as a Satyr Bard and a Tortle Monk?
Satyr is in Mythic Odysseys of Theros, Tortle is part of the Tortle Package or Explorers Guide to wildemount. Also keep in mind you can buy just the race if you click the book in the market place.
Bard and Monk both have a subclass in the basic rules (no purchase needed) a couple in the Players Handbook, as well as a few subclasses in Xanathars Guide and Tasha's Cauldron so that would depend on the type of monk or rogue you wanted to make. (you can also buy just the subclass or subclasses you would like in the market place by clicking on the book title to see its just buy subclass options)

Yes. The legendary bundle applies the discount on every book, released and future.
