It's fairly common for people to have music playing during a campaign and I'd like to hear the type of music people use. But more than that, do you play music when making your characters or writing a campaign session? If you do, what music do you tend to use and why?
I've never really listened to music when making a character. Then I heard this song (below) and suddenly my brain is overflowing with ideas. How much do you use music for inspiration?
Also, why doesn't music like this get played on radio instead of the overdone uninspired usual drivel? Music should expand your mind, confuse your feet and move your soul. It should open something in you.

I find it difficult to listen to music while I write, but occasionally I'll listen to something synthy or ambient to help block out noise around me.
I don't find music often inspires my characters or scenes, but very often once I've made a character I'll start hearing songs that really fit that character, so I make playlists to get me in that character's headspace.
There was one time I was inspired by a song for a character, however... Though I took it in a bit of a different direction from the song. Still, Simon Says by Allie X (which came up on my Spotify recommended) basically wrote the first draft of my Wizard's backstory...
The Way by Zack Hemsey is awesome to play on low in the background on loop and really builds intensity while discussing and talking about things
Steve Jablonsky - Sacrifice is also just incredible to listen to while playing RPGs of any kind. (check out playlists of his music on youtube for a lot of great music)
Requiem for a Dream by Clint Mansell is incredibly intense and forboding but still gives me flashback goosebump from the movie and emotionally I just can't listen to if for very long.
A lot of music can be found looking for instrumental or acoustic covers. My favorite example of this is Divinity- Original Sin 2 OST - Sing for Me (Instrumental) https://www.bilibili.com/video/av15332501/

One of my favorites for ambiance while writing:
The Empty World - Walid Feghali
Love it. Awesome music man.
