I have a ton of characters that I've made, but haven't had a chance to play them. Always a DM, never a player. *sigh*
One of my players is toying with the idea of homebrewing his own setting, and I want to ask him if there's room in his world for both firearms and monstrous adventurers. If so, I have a hobgoblin gunslinger named Colton I really want to play. He's a chaotic neutral old cuss who's cantankerous in the extreme, and he got so sick of taking orders he deserted his legion and took with him one of their prisoners, a tinker gnome skilled in the art of gunsmithing. After escaping, he picked up a couple of tricks from the gunsmith before parting ways and becoming an adventurer, hiring out his services (though he still bristles at taking orders) and finding new ways to creatively swear while in general being a cranky misanthrope.

One of the nice things about being a DM is you can, at least short term, introduce some of your characters you want to play as NPCs to try and get a feel for them. Maybe treat it like a beta test to see who you want to really focus on once you're finally able to join in as a player.
All of them. I have loved them all. Currently I am in love with Bassil Wrathbone, a half elven bard who cannot sing. He does play recitals for spells/inspiration and bedtime stories for song of rest. He’s a fop and uses Unseen Servants to bathe/dress him and make his tea. He learned Tiny Hut just because he hates camping. He uses his spells to make special effects for his performances and he is renowned for playing the best stage villains.
I’m also in love with another character I’m about to start playing. Grotmaw Deadeye, a true neutral goblin mercenary fighter who specializes in the crossbow. I plane to go Battle Master with him.
But I loved Arizima Stormwind, the Fallen Aasimar Vengeance Paladin who was a little unhinged unless she could spend some time every day reading in a little black book that records her dreams every night so she can try to decipher the messages from her angelic guide. It was the only thing her adventurer parents left for her when the left her with friends as a baby. She swore her oath when her adoptive family was murdered by bandits. She had been a Protector Aasimar, but when hen she was presented with a choice to save another family from a burning farmhouse or attack the bandits who were responsible for both families she pursued her oath and as the family burned so did her wings changing her from Protector to Fallen and she shifted to L/e and lost her marbles.
I loved Grung, the Half Ogre Monk, Sahria the Divine Soul, and Elar the half elven fighter/rogue Swashbuckler I played back in 3e/3.5
I loved the dozens if 2e, AD&D 1st and 2nd characters I played.
I loved “Broken” Eddie Jones, the Bruja I played, and Tony Martelli, the Fallen both in the World of Darkness setting.
I loved my Physical Adept I played in Shadowrun who was all kitted out in BioWare so he could get through security scanners. Alas, I have forgotten his name.
If we’re not in love with them, why would we play them? I’ve loved them all.
dovin kin,the gold draconic bloodline dragonborn sorcerer (both himself and his bloodline are gold at the moment, though if the dm alows cross breaths ie fire and acid,i would be gold with green ancestor, which would make me able to breath boiling acid) who was abandoned at a orphanage shortly after his birth,...found out he had magic powers.....got kicked out after a change in leadership of orphanage... and hopes to one day become a dragon (or as close as he can)
the plan for this is (with the help/ok of the dm)ether to become a half dragon (homebrew described in my last post on this thread) or to become a anthro dragon via this dragon mask (or lf l need to go RAW,use the wish spell or true polymorph to become a (gold)dragon (if gold dragons can be Chaotic Neutral,if not ether l get a alignment shift or l become a Crystal or topaz dragon, which are the only CN dragons l can find)
Although I love my lvl 20 Abjuration Wizard, my favorite to play is my Bardlock. He went 1 level of bard, then 2 warlock as hexblade, took mask of many faces and agonizing blast, then another 11 in lore bard so far. Now he can wear medium armor with a shield which gives him a decent AC, has eldritch blast for some damage at range, but that's not what he is about. Mask of many faces combined with expertise in persuasion and deception is just nuts. Need to get into the castle, just look like a guard and get advantage on your +16 to deception. Party not welcome in a new place? Look like a commoner and get the info you need without exposing yourself. It's very rare he doesn't do great in social encounters and has just a little bit more oomph in combat with having eldritch blast.

Here is another l plan on useing in the future:

I agree with you there!
Love the characters, btw. Lots of love went into them, I can tell:)
