Okay, I've dug through the source code, and now know how to turn dark mode on without using the chrome flag.
When you are searching for monsters in the encounter builder, if you search for the emoji sunglasses 🕶, dark mode will be enabled, and then if you search for the black sun with rays emoji ☀, dark mode will be turned off.
There are actually four other secret modes that can be turned on/off: Bat mode (encounter difficulty listed in terms of bats): 🦇/🏏
Cat mode (all pictures replaced with cats): 😻/😿
Dealing with it mode (sunglasses on all pictures): dealwithit / itsdealtwith
Dilling with it mode (pickle rick): dillwithit / 🙊🥒
Adam just announced the Encounter Builder Dark Mode Easter Egg this morning during the Dev Update on Twitch. The Wizard is a tiny hidden link on the right side of the main menu (hover your mouse slowly to the right until you see him). Clicking the wizard makes the menu sparkly.
If you go into the advanced settings for chrome, chrome://flags/#enable-force-dark you can turn that feature on, and it will render dark mode in the encounter builder.
That party wizard thing sucks. On Firefox WIndows 10, it froze everything the first time and now I have a white screen even when reloading the page.
More a you thing.
On my Firefox, Windows 10, old laptop - it works beautifully.

Am on firefox and more was looking at wat the dev team had worked on partially to see what was like, in terms of being able to give feedback as is useful to see the ddark mode the team may use for the site. Especially as the websites own darkmode would not mess with the design of the site.

I don't think forcing the browser to render in dark mode is what they mean. This would be functionality built into dndbeyond and work on most/all modern browsers
My guess is that it has something to do with the URL. If you put in a bad URL like dndbeyond.com/asdf it gives a 404 error. But in Encounters, you can put in something like dndbeyond.com/encounters/dark and it seems to load a broken version of the encounter builder. That's not exclusive to "/dark" but it makes me think there might be something to it.
Edit: Gave up on that avenue and now looking at source code. I see class declarations of "skin-light-on-dark". I don't know much about tamper chrome or using the dev toolkit, but my attempts to overwrite it as skin-dark-on-light don't seem to help. I also see a "burger-ready" option and wonder about that..
Burger-ready probably refers to something regarding a mobile version of the page loading, as that little 3 stacked lines icon that usually represents a collapsed menu on mobile devices is often referred to as a burger. I've tried clicking and hovering all over that page for about 10 minutes solid and couldn't see anything, so I finally just threw in the towel. I'd rather wait until I can just turn on a site-wide dark mode (and don't want to force Chrome into it).

Any one yet worked out how to active this easter egg?

Did someone claim the reward yet? If not, tweet @ Adam asap so you get the prize!
Someone claimed it pretty quickly during the dev update. Is why I felt since commpetion was over was worth making a post so the communiy know as a whole.

I'd love a dark mode in general but I didn't know there was an easter egg version for encounter builder
Full of rice, beans, and bad ideas.
You’re not the only one. This is complete news to me. And, I only just learned of the party wizard Easter egg.
Are there more?

There have been a few (around 5) threads about it. Here is a link to the one with the most comments:

Might warrant a separate bug report. That isn't normal.
It's working so I will drop it for now.
