Been using DnD Beyond now for a little while and just started a campaign with a few friends.
im a little confused on the stat layout for one of the characters and was hoping someone could explain, what are the “Other Modifiers” under their stats.
It lays out base scores, racial modifiers, ability improvements etc but I can’t work out what “Other Modifiers” were. I manually changed the number but it seems to reset back to its original one.
ive checked gear and items and nothing is giving an additional boost to stats. Just very confused...
probably something super simple I’m not seeing but could really use the assistance.
If the character takes a feat that also gives a +1 to an Ability, I believe those go in that column. Also, DMs can just award ability increases to Characters for various reasons (blessed by a deity, etc.) and can just manually adjust those Abilities, I believe those go there as well.
What it looks like is your group rolls their stats or uses point buy instead of taking the standard array. It looks like your player couldn’t figure out how to switch it to manual entry or point buy so they just put negatives on some and a positive on Cha to “fix it,” (only they did the math wrong).
If you have them click on edit character and then go to the abilities tab they can remove those "other modifiers' that shouldn't be there, just set the value in those fields to zero as they should be.

So I’ve just reset all the modifiers to be blank, hopefully that should resolve the issue. The only way for it to have number input now is if so myself, or the player inputs them correct?
if that’s the case the player is trying to stack points into a stat and essentially buff himself. But I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt and think he’s not doing this.

Correct. It looks to me like they just didn’t understand how to put their stats in correctly in the first place, so maybe they just need a little help. They took three “-1s,” and one “-3” and added in one “+7” so it really looks to me like they just didn’t know how to do it correctly in the first place. One of my players had a similar issue.

Ah ok gotcha,
I can’t imagine though that a lvl 8 character who has only taken one feat would have an “Other Modifier” of 7. Seems excessive to me.
ill take a look into the stats and see what’s what.
As the DM I have changed it a couple times and it seems to always roll back to the 7.
Can you link us the character sheet so we can take a look?
What magic items are equipped?

Thanks for the response guys,
hopefully this works as a link for the character Sheet

Yeah, almost every Ability on that character has those “Other Modifiers.” Is this your character, or are you the DM?

No! Don’t set them to 0, just delete them.

Just delete the stats?
edit - The modifiers i mean
No, just delete the “Other Modifiers.” If you set them to “0” who knows how that’ll screw with DDB’s janked-up system.

Brilliant thank you, just reset them so we shall see what happens

I’ll see if it changes at all and let you know. Hopefully this resolves it and won’t have to mess about with the numbers
