I believe they made a big error in in breaking there rule of " We don't give dates" to say one a month has proven too much for them to handle.
For those of us that love and use D&D beyond almost daily we know that development is very slow on this site. They should have just said there will be random subscriber gifts dropped through out the year then they would save them self's all this hassle each month.
I agree with that plan, however, I'm sure at some point the team will catch up and make timely deliveries. I think they rushed it thinking they could do it and that we would just be happy with the new inclusion to our subscriptions without increasing the price, but you know how the internet can be. I'm on the side that won't complain about it and view it as "free" even though that actually isn't the case. I understand the frustration people have and that they feel entitled to these perks because dndbeyond has listed them as "entitlements". I just personally won't complain about it.
I mean, I understand this is probably not the main thing anyone subscribes for, however having such inconsistent deliveries does not strike confidence.
I think we can all agree the perks are quite minor, yet they are not ready on time. Heck, if I go to the subscriber page it still shows July perks for me, while August perks were already delivered and we should have been gotten September perks by now. It would be so easy to cheat this as well since we have no idea what the perks are supposed to be before they are announced. Not ready on time? Release some old preorder stuff like the first time. Noone will know and you will be ready for next month (or have a second release later).
Yeah, as someone who only started buying books recently I would be perfectly happy if they just released some old pre-order perks if the new stuff isn't ready yet.

Right, the dates thing is a double edged sword.
On the one hand, by not having any promises, you can cleanly say you aren't breaking anything. The flip to that is by not having them, we have no idea what is actually happening. I'm sure internally they have dates, and then things get pushed back and some of it we're just not seeing. or when new sourcebooks come out that things get changed around. That's fine and reasonable. Just give the audience some transparency.
I honestly don't really appreciate the fact as a paying customer who continues to come back and buy damn near all the content here, tactical maps excluded ,the time devoted to having to explain all the time hey we don't give dates, could be better used giving dates. It isn't funny. To me, a paying customer, I find it insulting. If a deadline ends up getting missed, it's okay to be transparent and go "These were the complications we ran into when developing this, lets talk to Pat or (insert dev here) to explain and show a bit of the complexities behind it. Here's the new deadline, and new issues not withstanding we should make it.
they did say that some of the older stuff will be released along with some new stuff randomly. I honestly think its a management problem. If it were me, I'd probably have had someone pick a whole bunch perks for the next 6 months. If there are 6 perks/month that's probably 36 perks or more if they plan to have some repeats. Then code it in that every month 6 perks are released for the next 6 months so they don't have to worry about it monthly or better yet, do it on an annual schedule and have HR or someone remind them during the company holiday or something.

I can safely say I agree. Although for me it would be enough ti see a roadmap if sorts with plans for Q1-Q4 and they can say that can change but at least we would have something. In the case of the perks it is really beyond me what’s going on with them, I mean if they are giving out stuff that was given out to some preorders before why would it be weeks of work to give them out again if you have the content ready anyways. There must be some reason I’m sure. Just can’t imagine what.
Yeah it becomes an issue only when you receive no free stuff, because all the free stuff, you already own. However this is what it feels like to be an avid gamer by any standard. I buy video games a lot and constantly see, years later, that game as a free monthly game. It's certainly less of a blow to free things. But I can see the occasional furrowed brow.

Not to mention things like your ISP giving 1-3 months free and half a year half price contracts for new customers, but nothing for you who've been with them for years.
New customers usually get extras and bonuses; customer retention incentives are rare, so we should appreciate if and when it happens instead of b...complaining if they are slightly late. At least they do happen!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
--[ Natural 20 - that's how I roll! ]-- We've stopped this OGL madness, but stay vigilant, they tried it once, they can try it again.
Might be because the July perks were dice and the August perks were background or frames? Either way I think dice "look" better as a perk lol so it may be intentional.
Me either, but the principal is just lazy as hell to me.
Do you mean Principal Skinner? :P
Also they just can't win. If they take their time to come up with something remotely useful (if I squint hard), people complain stuff is late. If they settle for something that they can deliver on time even while they are working on three whole books that will be released a month from each other, people complain they are lazy.
I really think they shouldn't have come up with this whole incentive thing, then there would be one less thing people would moan about (cause it's not like we actually demanded it; they are throwing this at us without any additional cost for us), but now that they gave us something, all people are doing is complaining about it.

I actually agree. It wasn't needed, and would of been fine without it. But if you're going to do it, make it interesting at least. Some of the new frames were decent at best. But when they recolor an existing dice, or give out frames most newer members probably already have (from pre-ordering the last few books) then it is just lazy as all hell. We've been asking for the OLD pre-order frames.
All everyone asked for was to have access to all the old pre-order perks for sub's, that's it. But they had to add more. If they just added all the old theme's, frames, and backgrounds to a sub access, I don't think there would of been hardly any complaints.
So sorry not sorry, some of this they got coming to them imo. And this is from a hardcore DnDB supporter who has purchased the legendary bundle and pre-ordered every book since Eberron.
I don't have any problem with a recolour dice set I think they look good, and once you can set dice to a character sheet it will further enhance the customizing concept. Even more so if you can set dice for set roll types.

I am happy to add them to my dice collection.
Yeah, I like the recolor due to personalizing each character. This fits an ice sorcerer much better than any other color, maybe white would be a close second. Regardless, I like it a lot 👍🏻

The main reason against this would be the outcry of "I pre-ordered this book and now you're giving the perks away for free" I imagine.

PSA to DnDB Employees: The Subscription page is still talking about July perks, might wanna update that too.

They do look cool for promotional purposes. However the header is basically "sign up to get these specific items in July" which is impossible now.
Gotta say I'm disappointed. A recolor? Really? This is the kinda shit you see in a mmo or fps cash shop.
Not even seeing said dice in my My Dice area... and yes, have logged out and in...

I don't see a new dice set on my Dice Page, Heroic or otherwise. What is the name of the new perk?
Urshuraak
So I'm new and confused. I clicked the email link, went to my dice page (after signing in) and saw nothing new whatsoever.
Am I missing something?
