If you ask me, you deserve a rest! And the team has just pushed a new update to short rests that make it a little easier to get your HP back. Give it a try, and read more in our changelog!
If you roll the dice and auto add your HP but then do not confirm the short rest you still keep the Hit points but don't use the Hit dice. Should probably rest the hit point to original if short rest is not confirmed.

Agreeing with QuilexP, rolling and healing for hit dice needs to be separated from the short rest menu as there are features allowing you to use hit dice outside of a short rest.
Currently it is awkward to use the feat Dwarven Fortitude in dndbeyond.
I'm passing for this exact issue right now. And I would really think is a must fix. It's creating a really bad experience with the sheet for haveing to confirm what you have used, for them to take a short rest in the middle of combat and then mark them again.
Having all these extra's is great, but you should really think about making this a virtual tabletop experience, without the need of other software.
A lot of people on here are not finding games because they don't know or don't want to use other sites/software such as roll20 of fantasy grounds. You could also just use the inbuild features of those things to make your character, and you would be required to purchase the books 2 times (3 times if you also want the printed copy as I do). So make it possible to use maps, doesn't need to be fancy, just possible to share with players. You would see a increase of player and game count, and therefor profit. It will create real customer value, so I hope one day (rather sooner) that this will be part of DND Beyond.
For live tabletop gaming this is already a powerful and helpful tool, but also in live games, it would be nice if you could have an easier way of sharing images/maps with the party. Something like WorldAnvil implemented into the website would be another great value creation.
Just suggestions, one might dream, I hope. But these things combined would make you definetly the strongest player on the market in all directions.

Agreed. Something simple like owlbear. Very user friendly!
We've been off and on trying to use this feature during rests ever since this post came out, but even after confirming a short rest and making sure the box for automatically applying healing for dice result, the hip points on the character sheet do not change. We've tried this with a total of 16 different players between three separate campaigns and it has never worked.
Edit:
It works in the D&D Beyond app but not on the website.

Any thoughts?
Firstly, the website and app are not consistent in how this works:
For the site you need to choose the dice you want to roll and then click the rollable box (3d10+9 in the image in the first post) to actually roll the dice. Once you have a result it will be applied as healing automatically and then you can click "Take Short Rest" to refresh short rest abilities etc.
In the app you simply select the dice you want to use and hit "Take Short Rest", the roll then happens automatically after all other short rest related changes are applied.
The website really needs to be made consistent, as the website's behaviour is not intuitive at all (literally everyone in my groups, myself included, misunderstood how this worked), meanwhile the app behaviour is far more intuitive IMO.
If that isn't your problem, then what browser(s) are you using? Are you using any plugins such as Beyond20 (this frequently has conflicts, though they're usually fixed pretty quickly)?
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.
I appreciate the input! Actually we have used edge, Chrome, and Firefox. We usually use the Beyond 20 extension, but I have tested it with that turned off, thinking that might be the problem, but still the same results. Hit dice rolled during a short rest simply aren't added to a character's health even if the box is checked.
I agree that the website and the app need to be consistent and how they function in comparison to one another. I understand there will be visual differences, but the actual functionalities should all operate identically.
Edit:
I did as you suggested up there and clicked the rollable dice formula after having selected the dice to roll and then clicked and confirmed the short rest, and it worked! Thank you for clearing that up! I almost feel stupid not having figured that out in advance, but I have to say it is definitely not intuitive, especially when the app does it automatically when you indicate to take the rest. At least now I know what to tell my players! Thank you again!

The reason the website works the way it does is because Hit Dice can be spent 1 at a time so you never have to guess how many dice you want to spend when you hit the [TAKE SHORT REST] button.

It's still not an intuitive way to do it, especially for new users, and it should still be consistent between the app and website; whole thing needs a rethink.

Really good feature - one bit of feed back.

Passed it on up!
I discovered during Beyond20 to Foundry VTT testing that Opera GX doesn't display the use multiple frame.
Note: Chrome display the frame even with Beyond20 enable.

It's not right. :/

That's pretty cool. I'll get my players to check it out.
