Hi, love the update, fantastic, now it is usable for real, especially the pdf option.
While I see there are still a few bugs to sort out here and there, most of these are minor annoyances so far. For instance that humans don't automattically get to pick their second language, but need to input it manually.
My biggest question is if you are going to add an option to for druids to include something for their cahnged forms or something, I can se that still being a bit of a bother to input all manually?
Got to play with the new format yesterday. I really liked the upcasting spell feature. Allowed me to easily see at a glance how many dice I need for say a 5th level fireball. Also helped to see which spells were more powerful at higher levels!
2. I think it is weird how you have to add items now. Unless I'm incorrect you have to type the item name into your inventory (or any letters that don't match what is in your inventory) then click the "add item" button that pops up, then search for the item in the sidebar that comes up. My recommendation is either let you add the item from the window (not the sidebar) or add a "add item" next to "other possessions" that brings up that sidebar without having to type gibberish into your inventory to bring it up.
If you look in the lower right of the Equipment panel, beside your currency. you will see a little gear icon. This directly opens the Equipment sidebar, so you can manage your inventory / add items as you did before.
Please rethink this update, you've undone almost everything I actually liked about using D&D Beyond for my characters. While a couple of upgrades seem to have been made, I wanted those upgrades to the previous design. The new character sheet is much more work for me to navigate and cosmetically this looks like the crummy template I made in Word 15 years ago. I may just go back to the App I used to use instead.
I'm fairly new to the site and love the Character Sheet update. Question on sharing my characters (via the Share button that creates a shareable link) --- some of the info -- specifically, Description & Notes -- Flaws, Ideals, Bonds, Background, Age, Height, Weight, Alignment, etc --- ALL of these are not appearing in the shareable link.
Is this a known issue or by design? My DM needs to see this and the only way I seem to be able to do this is to create a PDF and email it to him.

Apologies if I missing something. Thanks
I think the notes and such being missing is by design, keep some of that backstory secret from prying eyes in the party. Your DM can see (and even edit) everything so long as you're in a campaign they've created.
Hi, not sure if it was already mentioned, but with the racial specific subclasses they are accessible by all characters. For example; I built an Aasimar wizard and I’m able to choose the bladesinging subclass of the Wizard. Normally that is restricted for the elves and half-elf races respectfully. Will these bee adjusted accordingly?

NO, please, please can we have an option to use the old version??
No - these changes address hundreds of thousands of feedback points from the community and playtesting and cover the prominent majority of the userbase. We wouldn't be able to feasibly support the old format with the complete overhaul that has been delivered. With any changes like this, we will side with the official D&D content or approach, and this sheet aligns with that.
I encourage you to try out the new format and provide feedback for anything specific you miss - all the functionality is here plus much more.
Thanks!
As someone who builds and has built digital products for the last decade, I am baffled by this reply. This is not how I would expect the staff to interact with their users. It is not a question of any functionality being missing, it's a matter of how it was executed. This is a mess. There is absolutely no sense of hierarchy, be it via color, layout, or typography. On top of that, the colored borders are garish and distracting. Everything feels too "important." And when everything is important, nothing is important. More disturbing is the tiny gear icon being the only way to manage your equipment now, so it seems.
While I understand most, not all, (it would be foolish to say I knew the inner workings of your org), the goals of this redesign, the execution came in way under par. I hope your team will consider hiring a product manager or someone with experience to re-examine what was delivered. You have great foundations as an organization and I hate to see the actual product offering go downhill like this.
I, for one, am thrilled with the changes. The redesign has solved all of my gripes. I had a lot of issues with the old Action, Spell, and Equipment management; it was cumbersome to scroll to the top to view info and actions, then scroll all the way back down and view the vast list of available and prepared spells (clerics, amiright).
As for the redesign, of course it is not going to be perfect or everyone, and I'm sure it helps manage some classes more than others. And I'm sure there are those that had no problems at all with the old design, and therefore hate the new design. However, the community has been asking for changes for more than a year. This is the result of BadEye's efforts and the efforts of dozens of designers and programmers to satisfy as many users as possible.
I know that there are some things that I would prefer see changed back, or tweaked, but nothing that warrants berating these folks who have put their sweat and tears into this tool for you to have fun for more than a year. I also know what it is like to build digital tools and applications, and I also know what it is like to have someone immediately take something in which I have pride and tear it to the ground. It doesn't feel good.

I was not surprised to see someone ask for the old version, but I was a little surprised to see that as the FIRST comment. I believe they gave a very simple, but honest reply to the question and am curious what about the response you find baffling?
As for the design, what hierarchy would you suggest? If I am playing a fighter I may have things that are important that a Wizard would care less about and vice versa. Having it be neutral across the total design allows everything to have a uniform and clean look, and makes it the same for all classes. Spend a little time with it and after a session or two you will know 100% where everything is and how to access it. As for the colors, if you don't like the default Red, select a more muted color. What layout changes would you suggest? Typography is really tricky on the internet, you are limited to fonts 99% of computers are guaranteed to have. I love Century Gothic, but I would never use it on a webpage that will be viewed all over the world with no guarantee the user will see it with that font.
I think they are absolutely correct in there response. they basically were left a comment of "blah - I don't like it, I want the old sheet because I am used to it". This comment does nothing. If that user has a SPECIFIC issue, they should address it, just saying NO without any explanation is meaningless.
If you showed a client a completed product and the feedback they gave you was "No" - what would you take from that? How would that help you in anyway refine your design?
Don't take this as anything but my invitation to start a dialog, just curios to see your take on my questions.
I work in IT for a nursing home, and any time we upgrade anything all of the nurses pitch a horrible fit for a couple of weeks until they get used to it and end up liking the changes a lot better. Same with any time Facebook rolls out new features. Everyone complains and then once it's normal everyone is fine again.
Not trying to dismiss any constructive criticism, but I bet most of these empty complaints will go away in a few weeks.

This couldn't be farther from the truth (Typekit | hell, even the built-in @font-face), but the choice of fonts isn't what I was referencing, moreso the use of weight and scale to deliver hierarchy with ease.
The borders are garish no matter what color. I DM for a group of four and each one of them uses the Rogue Ash, because it's the best-worst option. Hierarchy can be built in so many ways and they have completely excluded color as one of those options. Inspiration, as important as it is, should light up when you possess it, not add an icon the same color as the rest of the page. When your HP is low, the color doesn't even change to denote this. Easy things that should be scannable, but nothing is. You can't even see your armor class while looking through your equipment.
Don't even get me started on the sidebar. What a clunky interaction.
Anyway, as rude as this may sound, I'm not interested in a discussion. I just came here to get one final vent out into the ether so that my players and I could stop complaining about it in Discord.

I can't make toast in my bathroom, yeah I could put a toaster in there, but that isn't why I am in the bathroom so I won't. The argument that, "oh it's digital, you can put every field on every page!" would lead to cluster****.

Personally, I love these new changes because I have always loved the aesthetic of custom character sheets and this reminds me very much of that.
The only thing that is missing is the ritual spells tab. It was very useful because I dont always remember those spells if I dont have them prepared.
My players really enjoyed the new sheets this weekend. I've liked what I've seen so far, but I won't get to actually use it until tomorrow.
So far, most of my players and I love the new updates. We'd still like some sort of functionality for assign items to containers, i.e. bag of holding.

The sidebar this pops out isn't scrollable for me -- on desktop or mobile. It really needs to be.
Also, am I missing where unprepared ritual spells are displayed for the character?
An update will make the unprepared ritual spells viewable.
