With a final blow, Runthiel knocks Sarah to the ground. As she is picked up by Scarab, a voice rings out over the battlefield. "You! What have you all done? My library is absolutely ruined! Do you know how much these books cost?! You'll pay for this, you'll all pay!"
Large, undead figures appear from the walls and approach the still living competitors. In the last moments before they are all crushed, they see Ganathor in a janitor's uniform, whistling and sweeping away the corpses of Swigg and Nara.
Scarab and Runthiel wake up in the treasure room, both in a cold sweat. Surrounding them are gold coins stacked to appear like Swigg, Nara, and Sarah worth a total of 3200 gp (1600 each). They also gain 9000 xp.
Swigg, Sarah, and Nara all wake up and see 640 gold coins floating above them in the shape of an angry elf's face. Immediately, the coins collapse and bury them, granting them each 4500 xp.
Tier 1:
"Take any one item. They're well equipped." The room contains every item from Chapter 5 of the Player's Handbook weighing 70 pounds or less, armor of varying sizes, instruments, tool kits. There are also spell scrolls, every first level spell is present (as well as spell scrolls of a level for which a magic user of the characters new level would have slots for), and an encyclopedia of knowledge. Reading these books will grant you proficiency with any one of tool kit or any one language, depending which book you choose. The books are magically infused to allow easy retention, but the magic is lost once used.
Upper Tier:
The victor may choose instead, an item from a magically infused chest that summons 10 randomly selected magic items to choose from (rarity determined by level). Alternatively they may exchange a magic item for another item of their choosing of the same rarity or lower, if the administrator has the requested item in his extensive collection. "You name it, they've probably got one somewhere."

Currently DMing: Princes of the Apocalypse, Out of the Abyss, Coliseum of Conquest—The Arena (Sometimes)
Swiggs soul comes back from the sleeping one's embrace. He finds Nara and Sarah and lays down his idea....
Swigg's journey to be undefeated in the arena has been rudely ended, but The Sisterhood of Traveling Death will never taste defeat. Seriously, everyone is screwed now.
(But no seriously, that is a dangerous combination. Someone triple attack and resistance, a sneaky buffer/debuffer, and an archer with at least 3 to 4 chances of super advantage w/o actively stealthing. It's almost as "disgusting" as the high AC champs that are Rothander and Og, or Parab and his army of nonsense.)

(The problem with a 3 person team is that at some point you'll be at a level with 4 or fewer people, and have to fight yourselves.)
(Also I don't think permanent teams should be allowed because they allow too much predictability and are unfair against those who don't have a team.)

(With the dice on your side anytbing is possible... And yes, I can imagine.)
(Ob and Lasser wanted to team up for the Hastey Reckless Barbarian setup, but they only got to team up as a result of good fortune for a couple of matches, I do sometimes select teams rather than roll, but this will favor your choice once, and damn you the next.)
I feel like this is a wasted opportunity. Team fights should be allowed and team selection a requirement. I struggled with Shmitty because he always needed a team. With Swigg I'm tired of fighting alone, winning alone, losing alone. It would be more fun to lose if you fought with a squad you trusted.
(Well think for a second. What team will stop an Og and Parab team? A Toren and Grianne team? An Eider and someone else when they get on his level team? (I guess he’s got 50 coins....) Who’s supposed to stand up to them? Who you’re with makes you either a lot stronger or a lot weaker. And what happens when you only have that 1 team in the arena? Do they fight each other?’
Scarab, after carefully considering his option, goes for the belt of JOHN CENA!!

Scarab's Tier 3 Chest:

Runthiel's Tier 3 Chest:
Rod of the Pact Keeper, +2, Potion of Fire Giant Strength, Potion of Mind Reading, Potion of Gaseous Form, Armor of Force Resistance, Splint, Dagger, +2, Leather, +2, Spell Scroll (Staggering Smite), Spell Scroll (Locate Creature), Mace of Terror
(Wait, is that possible? Me and Roth should form "The Unhitables.")
(Can you imagine a permanent team of Og and Parab? That would be truly terrifying. Or a permanent Eider/Toren team.)
