The tabaxi looks to Kirinar, his eyes coming into focus "My name is Bag of Nails.  I came to Omu to find a fabled treasure called the Navel of the Moon. I hoped to use its alleged powers to find my lost son.  I don't think I will ever find it.  I'm sorry I attacked you."

Ransyl approaches Bag of Nails, and removes the cube from his bag - holding it out for the Tabaxi to see. “We found this downstairs.  We have been collecting them as well and hope to use them to eradicate an evil presence on this island. May we have it?”

Timber looks concerned at nails, "My name is Timber of the wilds. When did your son go missing?"

Bag of Nails looks at the cube that Ransyl shows him.  "I found that in a shrine just east of here.  I think there are more in other shrines.  There are also red robed wizards in the city as well that I have seen coming out of a couple of the shrines and I think they are collecting the cubes as well.  I don't know the purpose of the cubes."

A confused look crosses his face.

"My son?  A long time ago. Many many years ago now.  I have searched for many years and finally found Omu but I cannot break her secrets." 

Keyleth listens carefully as 'Bag of Nails' speaks, on high alert for any sign of deception.

Timber watches Keyleth to see if she shows any sign to worry about Bag of Nails. If/When she shows no sign to be worried he turns and says "Well I think we could help each other? I am sure your son is still out there!"

“We could use someone with your skill with a bow.”

"And your knowledge of areas we may not have explored yet!" Kirinar adds, finally standing a little more relaxed.

Bag of Nails smiles.  "Come join me for a meal and I can help you.  I know the city well, just not her secrets."

“That sounds like a splendid idea.”

Keyleth nods toward Timber when he looks at her. When Ransyl accepts the man's offer of a meal, she shows a somewhat concerned expression on her face, wary of breaking bread with someone who minutes ago tried to kill her, but goes along with the suggestion since most of the rest of the group seems to be in favor of it.

Bag of Nails leads you downstairs and begins to prepare a meal for the group.  As he does he asks.

"Have you seen the huge T-rex that roams the city?  He has feathers and is massive!"

When he finished he sets bowls of stew in front of each of you. 

"We saw a huge scat pile that it probably left near a coliseum, and several huge three-toed footprints in the mud, but luckily we have not seen this beast! Maybe we have a picture and description of it in th\is book we purchased!" Kirinar will ask for the adventuring book and thumb through the illustrations, looking for a huge, feathered beast that has two legs and three toes. He will show all possible pictures to Bag of Nails, asking if it is what he called a 'T-Rex.'

Kirinar thumbs through the book and finds an entry that might match the description given. 

Giant Strider

But Bag of Nails shakes his head as he hands out the stew for you to eat.  "No. Much larger, very much larger than that."

Kirinar puts the book down and takes the stew, shaking his head at Bag of Nails statement. "Well then I don't think we want to see the giant lizard, then! Thank you for the stew..." he adds.

Ransyl devours his stew, spending more time cleaning it off his beard than in the actual process of eating. 
“Where to next?”

(I actually forgot what our plan was before this little interaction)

”Since we have this cube, we no longer need to head toward the shrine. How many are left?”

Keyleth eyes the stew suspiciously, still not entirely on board with fully embracing a senile sniper as their new friend.

Is Bag of Nails eating stew from the same pot? Does he show any reaction when the others start eating? (Insight: 26, or 17 if ear for deceit applies)

Can she tell by smelling or tasting a small amount of the stew whether it is contaminated? (Nature?: 13)

OoC: I'm also happy to just move on to the next thing if this is really just a flavor scene (so to speak), since we've been in this scene for a long time already.

Timber graciously accepts the stew, "Thank you Bag of Nails! This is delicious!" he says as sits down and enjoys it.
