I'll run whatever match (again, not level 5) that is most useful. I'd much prefer to run a level with an even number of players though, so Amaruve can stop haunting me.
Just roll 1d13rr5-1 instead =P I was always haunted by rangers. My least favorite class.

Anyhow, perhaps the 'something' big it could be a lead-in to the mystery regarding the cataclysm, a horde of some sort attacking the town, or depending on the reward (if any) to celebrate construction in the background reaching a certain point?

Would you like to write and run such an event Orileo? Cause I don't have anything firm planned for that mystery, but I was thinking of going along a similar vein.
So looks like there's 4 level 4s and 5 level 3s currently waiting for matches from what I can tell (unless dreadwood or markus leveled up from their match losses and haven't updated character sheet to new level).
Unless someone is planning to start a 'something big' soon I can go make a thread and start up the level 4 match (figure 6 and 5 would wait for the current level 5 match to finish)

Only Nock leveled up on a loss. For Markus and Dreadwood, that was their 1st loss for their tier. As for the something big... still in the works, but if you two want to get the level 4 and 3 at least thread wise situated, then please by all means. Because I don't think the big events usually involve a level up anyhow. Just maybe money, gear, and something potentially special. :|a

So totally not going to think it all through or plan it for this first match I run, but thoughts on a Capture the Flag style match? Have a flag on each side, have to pick up the flag and carry it back to yours to score. Could require your own flag to be at home to score or not. Probably some limitations placed on a player if they're caring the flag (requires at least one hand, maybe limit move speed/abilities, unable to Hide, etc). Maybe (since we don't have the same kind of respawning as something like Warsong Gulch in WoW) make it so you can try to wrest the flag away from an opponent that's carrying it (similar to grappling. Athletics vs athletics or acrobatics or something). Bonus action or action to return your own flag to it's home if you're holding it.

@Orileo: So is this Big Event going to be directly after the level 5 match, or after the next round of matches has ended? I'm sure you already have plans, but in case they're useful here's the link to the start (including setup) and end (including rewards) of the big Worm battle.
In that battle, everyone received the normal rewards (xp and gold) for winning the fight, except that they received a token of the appropriate rarity instead of a magic item.
If we're waiting until after the next set of matches, I'll set up a level 6 match.

... thoughts on a Capture the Flag style match? Have a flag on each side, ... (requires at least one hand, maybe limit move speed/abilities, unable to Hide, etc). ...
I think it could work well. I didn't initially start doing this because I felt like it heavily favored some characters. Those with very high movement in particular. The maps aren't generally very big. The objective could be too easy for done and very difficult for others. For instance character with a shield can't carry the flag with a weapon in hand. But I suppose they would also be harder to hit, and stop.
If you (or anyone) were to try it, now that we're thinking about it, I'd say: to pick up a flag or return a flag to a base a player must begin and end their turn within 10 feet of the flag or base (like in 4 CP) while carrying the flag you may not exceed a movement speed of 30 feet (or maybe even 20) or fly, you will be visible, and your position will be known while you carry the flag. I'd put the flags on opposite corners of the map 5 or 10 feet from the walls. (The Complex is not rotationally symmetrical; some others might not be either.)

The last time you could join the big event even if you were in a match, so theoretically other matches could start regardless.

Yah, if the flag takes up 1 hand, you'd have to choose between a weapon, shield, or spell-casting with the other hand (for somatic spells at least). Sha'kar, for example, would have to choose between being able to attack with his shadow blade (or rapier) or being able to cast Shield or Absorb Elements as a reaction (since it requires somatic components). Could get around *some* of that with item interactions (attack, then put away weapon to have a free hand. But the next round, you have to use your interaction to get it back out before attacking again, so can't put it *back* away again).

starting and ending within 10 feet to capture would keep it in line with the capture the flag/control point objectives. Could still require no enemy in range to be able to capture (or return) as well. Then maybe say you can only use walking speed (no flying, no climbing speed, no swim speed, etc), could still cap at some given speed even with that (otherwise a dwarf has 25 foot move speed while a wod elf has 35 base, sha'kar has 40 foot with bladesong, etc). Or possibly capped at your base move speed with no bonuses. Then maybe say if you teleport (e.g. Misty Step), leave the material plane (e.g. Blink), etc, you drop the flag when you disappear. Could voluntarily drop as a free action, in which case you could decide which corner of your square for it to end up at. not sure about handing of to a different character? I'd say probably no, you'd have to drop and they pick up on their turn. Otherwise you could chain out to have one person capture it, then next turn they move 30 feet, pass it to someone else, who goes another 30 feet, etc in one round.
Opposite corners also makes sense, to put them as far away from each other as possible. If you require your own flag to be home in order to capture, you might be able to just do a single capture to win (since you have to get it, get across the map, then deliver it, with the capture and delivery both requiring there not be enemies also in range of the point, so your opponents could pile onto your flag's area if you have theirs to keep you from scoring). If you don't require that, could maybe require more.
