So, I haven't done an online D&D campaign in like a month and I'm going to change than. I'm running No Silent Secret, a pre-made campaign set in Theros, an ancient Greece style world with a heavy emphasis on gods and heroes. This is a short campaign, with players starting a level 1 and getting to at most level 2, it can hardly be called a campaign. If you want to join put this info down in the comments, I'll pick the players in like three days.
Character's Name:
Character's Race/Class
Character's Background
Character's Backstory ( I Don't need anything extravagant, the campaign starts on a travel to one of the world's major cities, why you're doing that is enough backstory.)
I also ask you follow these character creation rules:
-Use point buy for stats
- All sources all allowed
- Artificers and Warforged are banned
- XP Leveling
- Your character gets either any feat or 1 uncommon magic item.
- If you want to use homebrew or UA, please check with me to see if I allow it first
I've been really looking forward to join some Theros campaing since I've read the book.
Few questions:
1) Would it make sense to base my background around being champion of some god, or is the campaign too short for this? If so which one? Edit: I've realized which campaign you mean. Would you allow artificer if I removed all the steam-punky stuff and refluffed it more as a alchemist follower of Pharika?
2) which of the three cities are we traveling to?
3) standard array is acceptable too I suppose? (I suppose it can be created by the point buy anyway, but am too lazy to compute it now)
4) The extra feat/item is instead of the "Supernatural Gift"?
Edit: 5) Since all sources are allowed, do you allow all the non-Theros races (except WF) too?
Will fill in the details later, based on the answers
Edit, thanks for the answers, I think I'll pass after all (mainly due to the non-Theros races). GL With the campaign!
Hi Im interested. If I could, I'd like to Play as Redek, a simple aging town guard/sell sword who is just trying to get back to his wife in a distant village.
Redek is a avid drinker and smoker, and has a sarcastic/surly demeanor. His appeal is in his martial diversity, being serviceably skilled in nearly every form of weapon.
He is the most basic ground unit of any army in a land littered with demigods and wizards and scratches his living out with human grit.
Character's Backstory: Thyme spent many years on her own in the wilds until the point where she had almost forgotten how to speak. One day she met a human man named Red. She thought to make an easy meal out of him, but something stopped her when he spoke to her. Red reconnected her with her human side and when he left, she felt that she should leave too. Though slightly confused and conflicted, Thyme is now in search for a new life among those who once shunned her.

1: I think even with some flavor artificers are just too tech-y for the setting, so no.
2:Akros
3: Standard Array is allowed
4: I wanted to make this campaign access-able for people without the book so I removed Gods Champions and Supernatural Gifts
Backstory: Z'tim was abandoned in the forest for his small stature, but was taken in by a pack of centaurs and raised as one of their own. He loves the land and especially owls. He has an owl called Sir Featherduster that follows him wherever he goes. I'm heading to a city to meet up with my friend, Moortooth, a centaur who has been living there for a few years.
Character's Backstory: Lillet grew up the youngest of a large family, part of a travelling stage show. It was difficult to get much attention in a crowd, and she grew up craving more. Her family tried to channel that into performance, with some success, but even so Lillet always felt a bit empty. She strove to learn more and ended up studying magic to address her desire for something deeper. A focus in illusion was a way to justify the time and expense to her parents, as it could be used for the stage. Fast forward a few years and her parents have retired and the company been bought out and split between two other troups. Lillet's decided this is as good a time as any to strike out on her own in a new direction, though, truth be told, she desperately wants to become part of a group again.
Character's Class: Wizard - Order of Scribes OR Monk - Way of Mercy
Character's Background: Cloistered Scholar
Story / Plot hook: As a grandchild of one of the local prominent librarian Lores spent his life wreaking havoc between shelfs full of scrolls and books. When he get older he found chill and calm of the old library quite soothing. Not being the smartest or bravest he did not achieved any high scholar rank yet. He is always eager to help. Right now he is assigned with a task to travel for some time and find any worthy additions to the library.
Looking at other characters. Are we not going to keep with the Theros sourcebook that specify that only available races are: Human | Centaur | Leonin | Minotaur | Satyr | Triton ?

Character's Background: Acolyte (deity TBD per campaign setting)
Character's Backstory: Farshaya’s family are sheep herders who live on the outskirts of the city. Yet he grew restless as a young man and moved from the rural areas to the urban. His agrarian upbringing and affinity toward the outdoors drew him to a monastic temple of The Four Elements. At the temple, he was trained in the austere but intricate traditions typical of the monastic ways. He learned their stories and art, and took a special interest in the craftwork of basket weaving, of submerging delicate willow branches or reeds into water, and then weaving them together in varying shapes. Every stem was a being unto itself, yet had its place within a larger whole; without each, the whole work could not exist. He made not only baskets, but used his family’s wool to make yarn, and learned to loop and knot the fiber into intricate blankets and tapestries. He is still close with his family, visiting them when he can and helping them as he is able. They tease him for growing bored on a sheep farm only to join a church, and for having his head in the clouds. As some years have gone by, he has once again begun to grow restless. He finds himself looking to the horizon, and wondering what else awaits him in this life.
Character's Backstory: Born into uncertain circumstances, Quobin hopped from orphanages throughout his childhood. He would often run away shunning his existence while hoping for some sort of stability. He often rallied his fellow orphans to coordinate his own escape. Eventually he found himself woken up on the side of a local inn, not sure of who or what had happened to him he now finds himself with strange powers and reoccurring dreams of tiny clocklike creatures tinkering on his body as if he was some sort of music box. In search of answers he travels to Akros to find answers as to what has happened to him.
Character's Backstory: As part of a thieves guild with the role of securing information on locations with valuables for heists and aiding the local guard in shaking down criminals, Crackling Fire lived a good part of their life in the security of his guild. However, due to an incident in which they had lost all of their hearing, he realizes that he could no longer fulfill his role as well as he used to. Under the doubt of his performance as of late, the quartermaster of the guild recommended the kenku to travel over to one of the larger cities within the area in hopes of finding a devoted cleric that could perform miracles under the name of the gods, perhaps being able to heal his impairment with these said miracles. Upon knowing this, Crackling Fire decides to depart from the thieves guild temporarily in the hopes of returning better than when he departed with the loss of their sense of hearing, embarking away from the home that they accustomed themselves to.
(Side note, I haven't actually played DnD Fifth Edition for awhile now so I might get a few rules wrong or forgotten a bit about the setting. Also, I rolled gold instead of going with the basic equipment for the character, if there's any problems with that, I'll change it if so.)

How important is it to know the Theros setting? I'm largely unaware of it but know quite a bit about Greek mythology.
And how do you want equipment? Starting package or gold?
