Some say wizards caused it, some say the powers of chaos caused it, no one knows for sure...one thing is certain, hundreds of years ago, a horrible tide was unleashed upon the planet Urth. Shadows, wraiths, or demons, people called them many things. The creatures took a multitude of forms and were evil beyond comprehension. They seemed only interested in the destruction of life. Armies of men and cities of stone fell before the tide. While those brave men and women didn't stop the ravaging hoards, they did slow them. The time, paid for in blood, was used to create fortresses and citadels, which were hoped to keep the people of Urth safe. Many were successful in their defense, but most fell after just a few decades of siege.
The people waited, too frightened to come out of hiding...until now. As far as some can tell, The Siege is over.
You have been hired by the powers that be to recover lost treasures. You will need to be brave and smart, know how to play well with others, and be a greedy bastard. No, not really. Your chances of success just go way down if you don't cooperate with others.
Character Creation:
Race: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, and Furling (same as Gnome but they look like 3 foot tall mice or foxes).
Class: Bard, Cleric, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Rogue, Sorcerer, and Wizard.
Starting level: 7 Multiclass OK
NO Feats, Nothing From Tasha's
Stats: Roll 4 take highest 3, If you're not happy with that, use Standard Array
Gear: Use gear choice rather than GP buy - 200 gp and 1 uncommon magic item.
Name:
Race/Class:
Backstory: Don't care. It don't matter where you been, only where you're going.
OK Echolon, this is your game. Create a character and post it with a link. Everybody else from the thread can do so as well =)

That's not very much. I can't even cast some of my spells.
Name: Oethe
Race/Class: Furling(Because why not? Can I look like a squirrel?) Cleric(Forge)
Background: Oethe is a squirrel from [insert generic fantasy forest here]. When he was a baby, Oethe's forest was burnt down by a demon. The little squirrel became trapped in the heat, but the fire didn't reach his spot. Oethe's eyes opened for the first time and he saw fire. This sight filled him with wonder and as he grew up, he became a smith. As an adult Furling, he's discovered [insert fire deity here] and become a cleric.
Do the evil invading forces speak a language a PC would be able to know if their back story involved reconnaissance/scouting during the war? I'm putting Abyssal as placeholder since "demons" were mentioned, but Tommary Sazarac (fresh build and rolls, but he's basically my games Eternal Champion) has been made minus equipment and fleshed out background Taking a Scimitar of Warning as my uncommon magic item, do we then take choose equipment + 200gp? I wasn't sure on the shorthand). Also HP are we doing fixed or do you want us to roll for variety?
Tommary Sazarac
Human
Rogue(Scout)3/Bard(Swords) 4
Background: Tommary is a veteran of the invasion/wars, he performed reconnaissance and scouting "over the line" a duty that capitalized on his knack for taking calculated risks. After the war, he makes his living telling war stories punctuated with exhibition and pit fighting dueling (with a heavy dose of an outsized performance personality straight out of professional wrestling, hiding the whole calculated risk thing). His day job aside, he knows there's a bigger story to the war he hasn't figure out, but he's working on it.

The evil forces are long since gone but people only opened fortress doors for a peek every 100 years so they don't know how long.
So pretend you're creating a new character and do the choose equipment thing. Then you have 200 gp to spend if you want. Using fixed hp.

Taslyn always was... not exactly a fan of Duergar's stealing people as slaves. one day, she prayed to Moradin for help, before standing up to the rest of the Duergars, and telling them to stop. Moradin blessed her with divine bravery, but it was not enough. the Duergar through her out for protesting, and she lived in the wilderness, alone.
whenever she needed aid, Moradin granted her it, and she was able to survive.
when she learned that others, even non-Duergars kept slaves, she dedicated her life to trying to stop slavery.
I'm in! Paladin or Paladin/Sorcerer (Divine Soul); still pondering race and pally subclass. Thought I had time to build tonight and a work thing came up. I'll get details filled in and character in the campaign as soon as I can. Might play around a bit with level division if I multiclass, so first build that shows up may not be final. (I'll definitely lock in before play starts, and I'm open to suggestions.
Backstory: Raised by parents that rejected societal norms and chose to live solely in the woods, Etric didn't come to civilization until his late 20s. He's shy, often awkward and occasionally too trusting, but loyal and truthful.

You really weren't kidding about the DM to player ratio.
I’m in a bunch of pbp, you can take my spot if the DM is okay with it. No big deal.

One day you'll discover that more than 6 gets hard to handle. 4-6 is ideal. I've done 10 face to face, but it was a madhouse and luckily all of them were engaged.

We'll see if we can get one or two more then start.
It should go without saying that you should treat each other with respect. While PvP is a no, that doesn't mean you can act like a wangrod.
I will do my best to post once per day. It is my first time with PBP so I would appreciate some patience =)
If you cannot post we'll have your PC follow the rest of the group unless you specify some form of action.

YAY! Looks like we're good.
Don't forget to add yourself to the campaign. That gives you access to some fun stuff and I can also see everybody at one time.
