for some reason i have just learned i had been logging in wrong to what i thought was me account mostly on the phone app for the last 4 years or so ... now that i have found my original account with the books that i bought on DND Beyond i am now confused with why my 2014 players hand book shows up on the dnd beyond browser as not owned yet on my phone app i have access to it as owned
please help me with my confusion and i think some of the other books i bought has changed as well
If you bought books as part of a bundle, there is a glitch that happened when they switched to the Library format which shows those books as not purchased but you should still have access to it. They are aware of the bug and plan to address it after the holidays.
Technically a 2014 PHB issue but no separate thread for it that I can find: It appears that all links for skills, equipment properties, and conditions lead to the affiliated page in the 2024 PHB, rather than the 2014 PHB due to tags not being separated like for spells (spells) (which can lead to misinterpreting rules for things like grappling if you’re trying to use the 2014 rules). Is there any plan to update these tags, or possibility of having a page with the core and legacy rules side by side as they appear on the character sheet?

Not likely. It's a way for Hasbro to constantly guide people to the 2024 rules set.
The 2014 versions of equipment can be found in the Game Rules: Equipment search webpage search by clicking the blue "Show Advanced Filters" link then clicking the "Source Category" field and selecting from the displayed dropdown list the entries for "2014 Core Rules" and "2014 Expanded Rules". Not intuitive at all but it is what it is.
To have a better chance of seeing the 2014 skill definitions, anyone creating a character must be using the 2014 version of the classes. This is accomplished in Character Builder by going to the Home page and checking under the Character Preferences: Sources section only the "2014 Core Rules" and "2014 Expanded Rules" boxes. Everything else under Sources must be unchecked otherwise there is a risk of mixing in 2024-focused information.
The steps above are also necessary to see the 2014 definitions of the Conditions on the Character Sheet when clicking on a Condition. However, in the case of Conditions, the 2024 definition will still be displayed but the 2014 definition will be included with the 2024 definition in a subsection titled "Legacy Definition." This is deliberate.

For the record, the Source options on the Home tab of the character builder only control which character options are available to be selected in the various areas of the character builder. They don't affect the way skills or conditions are displayed on the character sheet, nor does which version of a class you have selected.

This isn't true though. If you click on 'battleaxe' in the 2014 basic rules, it gives the 2024 details, which include a quality 'topple' which did not exist in the 2014 rules. The original 2014 details are no longer there to reference.
To add on here a bit, why not just change to 2024?
I'm honestly surprised, they haven't forced moved to 2024 rule set yet. I think at some point they should.
They tried that already, but a lot of us raised a stink about it because we don't want to switch to '24 rules. Forcing people to use one ruleset over the other is stupid and will drive away many of their customers. If WotC wants to keep up their bullshit about compatibility between the two versions, they have to support both.
They made their bed. Now they have to sleep in it.

Why should we change? WotC spent at least a year assuring us that 2024 wasn't a new edition, that 2014 and 2024 would still exist side by side. I'm in the middle of multiple campaigns (DM & player) and have no desire to change rulesets mid game.
It's not like there's a technical reason for DnDBeyond to need to use 2024 rules exclusively. The item issue above could easily be fixed by having two copies of each item, with the 2014 one marked legacy. I know that that means a load more entries in the database, but that shouldn't be an issue. If it can't handle the increase then it's not going to cope the next time we get a XGE\TCE type book either.
If DnDBeyond wants to go 2024-only then they need to announce that that's their plan, and accept that they will lose some customers. Until then the offical position is that both rulesets are active and we're entitled to expect that the toolset reflects the correct rules from both rulesets.
The issue here is that Hasbro\WotC\DnDBeyond aren't investing enough in development of the toolset, and taking shortcuts rather than fixing things properly.

Bad idea. The reasons were largely mentioned above, but yeah, to take away content would effectively be stealing from existing accounts. And to force the 2024 switch, they'd have to take away access to the legacy classes and subclasses entirely.
Why is it a bad idea? Honestly, 2024 ruleset is much better than 2014. Sure it takes time to get used to, but it is better.
Most things have been ported over to 2024 rules already with just the LEGACY tag, so you could still use them.
I'm not seeing what all the fuss is about.
Everyone needs to remember that when DNDBEYOND was owned by a third party they developed it before know what the future held. So I can see there are limitations to their program.
I do agree, that WOTC should spend the money and do it right. Re-do the base database from the foundation, know what the current ruleset is and what the future may bring.
Beyond all that, its so much easier than using the old paper/pencil method.
I started playing in 1981 and DNDBeyond makes it much easier than before. But I do know that some things it can't do, and I will still have to track on that on my own. (or customize the character sheet - or create a homebrew). I don't have any problems with that.
Rather than complaining about what it doesn't do, we should be grateful about what it does to.

But until Hasbro allocates more funding for WotC to allocate to Beyond for hiring humans, fixing the site, & adding features....it's going to be stalled.
& the edition wars talk helps nothing.
Legacy coding is a problem, & it does need redoing.
But until money is allocated by the dark overlords, & flesh & blood humans are hired to do the work for a benefits package that makes the job worthwhile to take, we're not getting either a unified 2024 or separate websites for multiple editions.
The website is understaffed. The money isn't being allocated to do what's needed.
Because investors want maximum return on investment for minimal expense, or else they'll sue Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks for slacking on fiduciary duty to them.
The problem isn't sloth from the workers(Despite what a bunch of people assume). The problem is greed from the executives & investors.

Strange??? When I do a search for "Beast Sense' on D&DB using the search field, I get the result for the 2024 OGB second level divination spell.

You might try combing accounts on the wot home site, or try giving them a call (good luck with that.

How does the Interpose Shield ability from the Shield Master feat still not show up under reactions on the character sheet?
Mercy Monk still not applying their WIS mod to Hands of Harm and Hands of Healing damage/healing actions, as stated in the feature's description.

The 2024 Actor feat appears to be missing its short hand descriptor(s) within the feat section of the character sheet.

The item issue above is kinda silly in my opinion. Just tell your players we aren't using Masteries. Its the same other than that.
