When picking a sheet appearance, you cannot pick the default 2024 PHB backgrounds. If you pick a different backdrop, you cannot reselect the 2024 PHB backdrop, only the 2014 one. Very strange.
Since Human, Halfling, Dwarf and Elf haven't been flagged as PHB2024 (yet?) content, and I never bought PHB2014, I still only have access to the free rules stuff for these species. Meaning for example I still can't select Drow as a species for my characters.
I do have access to the other 2024 species, so it's not a license sync / logout-login issue for me.
Edit: I found out that Elves no longer have subspecies, but now differentiate by lineage instead. You simply select Elf as your species, then get to choose the lineage you want, which now does include Drow for me. So this isn't a bug after all, just a bit confusing!
Fey Wanderer Spells doesn't grant the Fey Wanderer Ranger the listed spell.
Ritual Casting only feature one dropdown menu instead of two, so the options in Drop Down menu is: Bard, Charisma, Cleric, Druid, Intellegence, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wisdom and Wizard. And selected spell isn't added to the Spell list.
When I create a 2024 Rogue, using the 2024 Free Rules and with Expanded content selected, at level 3 I don't get any of Tasha's subclasses to choose from even though I have the content shared. Furthermore, I checked creating a 2024 Wizard and I could only select the Order of Scribes from Tasha (the Bladesinger appears as only from Sword's Coast):
Edited: Just found, reviewing the first post, that for the Rogue the Phantom is not included in the list of supported subclases for backwards compatibility (why though, if this subclass is not revised?). But for the Wizard, the Bladesinger appears listed as supported for both it's SCAG and Tasha's versions, yet only the SCAG version appears?
Hello! I've been messing around with the character creator with the 2024 Player's Handbook. While I do appreciate the updated ruleset, there are a number of issues I've discovered, including but not limited to:
Unable to select the 2024 versions of spells as an Artificer. Additionally, its subclasses only have the legacy version of the spells.
Other subclasses for the rest of the classes that didn't appear in the 2024 PHB but are selectable only have the legacy version of the spells.
The Infusions only apply to legacy items (i.e. Enhanced Arcane Focus with the legacy versions of the staff, rod, and wand; Replicate Magic Item; etc.).
The Warlock's Pact Blade does not apply Charisma modifier to weapon damage rolls.
Feats that let you select features such as Fighting Initiate, Eldritch Adept, and Metamagic Adept are limited to their pre-2024 options.
Backgrounds prior to the release of the 2024 version of the Player's Handbook that give feats only give the legacy version. If you select a different background, that feat may persist on the character sheet.
Choosing the Divine Soul subclass for the 2024 Sorcerer does not add Cleric spells to the Sorcerer's spell list.
Certain classes for various feats (Elemental Adept, Fighting Style feats, Spell Sniper, War Caster, etc.) don't seem to meet the prerequisites. Likewise, Rangers and Paladins cannot choose a Fighting Style at level 2.
Medium Armor Master requires a Dexterity of 16 or higher, despite its prerequisites saying it doesn't.
When applying the Ability Score Improvement feat, one can raise their ability score above 20.
Selecting spells from the Ritual Caster feat does not display said spells on the character sheet.
When receiving spells from a majority subclasses, species, and feats, the button next to the spell says At-Will instead of Use or Cast.
The Wizard's Spell Mastery feature would not let you upcast level 3 spells. Neither does Signature Spells.
The number of Attacks remain 1 despite classes granting the Extra Attack feature.
For the 2024 version of the Druid, Cleric, and Wizard, the number of spells they can prepare is still tied to their class level plus their spellcasting modifier.
The Monk's Warrior of Mercy subclass' Hand of Healing summary has "scalevalue - No level scale data available" instead of its intended value.
When clicking on Sources at the top, the Player's Handbook (2024) isn't in the Featured section, requiring people to view all sources.
At times, when using a pre-2024 species with Tasha's Customize Your Origin feature with the 2024 backgrounds, the option to increase your ability scores isn't there.
The 2024 version of the Warlock is not able to pick options from Xanathar's Guide to Everything and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, such as Improved Pact Weapon.
Hands of Harm and Healing does not add a Monk's Wisdom modifier to the dice.
While a spell scrolls has a link to its 2014 page in the 2024 PHB compendium, the 2024 version of a potion of healing doesn't. Instead, it leads to its marketplace page.
Etc. I will add more should I find more issues.
I do appreciate the developers and coders taking their time to fix any bugs and glitches. Better to have the buggy stuff during early access than at full launch.
The boon of energy resistance has an error in it. if you create a homebrew copy of it you can see it's adding a bonus to ability checks instead of increasing the limit on the con ability. it does some crazy things to your skill proficiencies as it's giving a bonus to all of them of 10 + con, on top of the proficiency it's adding to them all.
I am considering this an Epic Fail for WotC until they get everything fixed on the character builder - you know, pretty much the ENTIRE point of D&D Beyond. I've played D&D since 1981, but more and more WotC is making it difficult for me to feel happy about handing over my hard earned dollars for their sub-standard products at premium pricing.
This may seem like hair-splitting, but I'd encourage you and other posters to be more specific and, frankly, realistic, about your criticisms. I have a lot of confidence in saying that the Dev team has been working their asses off to get the new rules set in place and working, but are very likely understaffed and underfunded by WOTC leadership.
If you've ever been part of a coding team or similar project (and I have) or if you have direct, real life experience working with C-suite executives, then you'd know SNAFUs like this are rarely because the front line workers are lazy, ignorant, or unskilled.
After the recent issue with realizing that forcing users to use the 2024 content was a massive mistake, WOTC leadership should've done a full acceptance of responsibility and pushed back the go live date more than just a few days and given the dev team the time needed to incorporate all the changes. This kind of full steam ahead, damn the torpedoes approach is what we see in executives in the film industry who stake out a release date and force soulcrushing deadlines on the creatives in order to meet it, often with very mixed (at best) results.
I share everyone's frustration that DDB isn't working the way it should - but I also have a sh!t ton of empathy for the actual dev team, whom I'm sure would've handled things with better project management if they'd been allowed.
If this isn't fixed and soon, i reckon a bunch of people are dipping out. This is unacceptable, half the stuff isn't working. Whose genius idea was it to release it in this state? This reeks of incompetence from management.
The Ritual Caster feat only has a single drop down box where you have to choose either a stat to increase or the class you want to select ritual spells from. creating a homebrew copy didn't make anything more clear but at present you can only select one benefit or the other from the feat.
edit: it's weirder. if you select a stat first, i don't get any boxes to choose spells. if i then switch it to a class i get three drop down boxes but they're empty, if i then switch it back to charisma, i get the correct number of drop down boxes and they're populated.
The War Caster feat is not currently available... I see it listed in the 2024 PHB, but cannot add to any characters. I did check and confirm that the characters met the prerequisites (4th+ level, spellcasting ability, etc.) but still nothing comes up. I can use the Legacy version for now, but that doesn't add a bonus to any ability score.
Goliath shows advantage on all skills because of their powerful build ability, which is pretty ridiculous as they only get advantage against grappling attempts and most skills will never be used for that.
When selecting a fighting style feat for the paladin class, there is no drop down menu that lets you select which feat you take.
Same for Rangers... you select "fighting style" instead of blessed warrior or druidic warrior, but then it won't let you pick an actual fighting style. Right now, you'd have to manually add the Fighting Style feat to make this work.
When creating a 2024 character, not only are the subclasses of partnered content not displayed, but neither are any homebrew subclasses. What is the point of creating your own subclasses with the homebrew feature if they cannot be selected?

Yeah this seems like something that needs to be errata'd. If it's also in the print version.
Here are some known issues me and my party found
Fey Wanderer Spells doesn't grant the Fey Wanderer Ranger the listed spell.
Ritual Casting only feature one dropdown menu instead of two, so the options in Drop Down menu is:
Bard, Charisma, Cleric, Druid, Intellegence, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wisdom and Wizard.

Bugs I encountered so far:
A few more things I've discovered. Here you go!

What about the rest of the warlock invocations? Are those not going to be able to be added to warlocks anymore? At least to show up?
This may seem like hair-splitting, but I'd encourage you and other posters to be more specific and, frankly, realistic, about your criticisms. I created a level 6 eldritch knight and can prepare 6 spells. I should only be able to prepare 4.

The telekinetic feat has two ability score choices and does not grant the Mage Hand spell.
