Anyone noticed that reading the book from the sources section makes your iOS browser extremely unstable and it auto-reloads like every 45-60 seconds? I can look up things in classes or magic items or monsters etc without any issues. But if I try to read the digital book, it completely bugs out. Is this a known issue?
Yes same. Firefox text mode works as workaround on iPhone
The new vs. old skill issue is very confusing and difficult to resolve manually. Adding new skills doesn't make them selectable in character creation, and there doesn't seem to be a way to limit character options to just the LoTR material, so all the stuff from the 2024 Players Manual is in there. The standard Background tab is still there, but not meant to be used for a LoTR character's background? Instead that's selected from the Species tab, so I guess we just...ignore the actual Background tab?
This is very complicated from the player's end. I'd hoped I could at least rename existing skills like History to Old Lore, or Survival to Hunting, but that's not even possible. I can't seem to remove those skills either, so they're just dead skills cluttering up the character sheet.
I'm really hoping you'll add more of the LoTR books and features, including the option to purchase a physical copy in a bundle...but before I'll buy any more products in this line I'd expect these issues to get resolved so it's a much more user-friendly experience in DDB.
I purchased the physical book on my own after the digital version. And I noticed on the physical version - there's a very large map that comes with the physical book. Is there any plans to make this two sided map available digitally for those of us that purchased it on here digitally? I'd hope so, since digitally we're purchasing the whole book - which would include this two sided map. (Otherwise, it's like buying the book and realizing someone stole the map out of the copy you bought).
For folks upset about the character sheets - I posted an idea, if it gets some votes or comments, it may draw more attention and consideration (one might hope).
This source features 5 new skills: Explore, Hunting, Old Lore, Riddle, and Travel. In addition, the source features an alteration to an existing skill Medicine. These new skills and adjustment to per-existing skills can be manually added to the character sheet using the instructions and gif below.
On your character sheet, click the gear icon at the bottom of the "Skills" box.
In the side panel at the bottom, expand the "Custom Skills" section and select "+ Add Custom Skill".
In the side panel, click on the new custom skill that appears. Expand the "Edit" section. Here you can add the name of the custom skill along with its corresponding stat. This is also where you can manually adjust this skill, for example you can gain proficiency in the skill.
Note that any class feature, species trait, feat, or other game element that impacts these new skills is not done automatically and would need to be adjusted manually.
That note in the end - about if you need to be proficient in it because of Calling/culture - and doing it manually, is fine. But could be resolved if a Lord of the Rings character sheet was integrated with D&D Beyond.
So, as much as I rarely use Roll20 (I use it when my players are in a cave, because it's much easier to show a visual of a cavern maze, rather than trying to find unique ways to keep describing the rocks in the cave)... There is one thing that I do like about Roll20 - is the ability to select different character sheets (based on the game you're playing). Roll20 does support an incredible amount of games (which is awesome) - I would love to see something like that used here, specifically for Lord of the Rings since it's now on here on D&D Beyond. Where, off that first screen where you can select Homebrew and all those options - have a check mark that is either "D&D Character Sheet" or "Lord of the Rings" character sheet, and one option must be selected (and even default to D&D character sheet). But that way an actual correct D&D Lord of the Rings character sheet can be used with the proper skills (Arcane removed for Old History, the checks that changed such as Medicine using Intelligence) would be a fantastic thing.
Just throwing it out there and hope someone hears it.
Will there be any future support to include these items that you note are not available at the moment? Alternatively, what about a Lord of the Rings-specific character sheet that could incorporate all of this that could be chosen during character creation (as opposed to a "standard" 5e character sheet). With all of the 3rd-party content, implementing an option like that for the various game options would be a massive quality of life improvement.
Can we please get the Lord of the Rings backgrounds selectable in the background portion of the character creation? Rather than under the Culture selection. I assume it's because the background can't be selected until the culture is selected - but why isn't Species/Culture/Race and Class selected before Background anyway, as a default?
Not that anyone is listening. But multiclassing doesn't work properly. Instead of only being able to choose 1 calling proficiency you get to choose all the base proficiencies of the new calling. In addition, the saving throw proficiencies for each new calling is added to your character sheet, but this is not supposed to happen. You're only supposed to have the 2 proficiencies from your first calling and that is all. This works properly with normal D&D multiclassing on dndbeyond, but not with LOTRRP, this is obviously an oversight and not a programming problem, just a configuration problem when they imported it.

So new skills will never be supported?

Question - not so much a bug.

Ugh - did this really get unpinned when there's still issues and suggestions being made?

Adding to the bug list:

They're trying to bury this Amber Hearding the Bed / quick n sloppy cash-grab of a shoddy DNDB release.
It's not a conspiracy. This is done to all pinned threads of 3rd-party, & most 1st party, releases, all the time.
