I am currently prepping Call of the Netherdeep, however I've noticed some of the campaign item descriptions have plot/mystery spoiling pieces of information in them.
Jewel of Three Prayers (Dormant): Explains most of who Alyxian is even though he is meant to be somewhat mysterious when the characters receive this item.
Ruidium items: List the ways to take down the BBEG, and what happens when they are defeated, even though they can start being found halfway through the campaign.
Is there a way to hide these parts of the item descriptions from players?
think the easiest way is to make homebrew copy of said spoilery item and then edit out (delete) the spoiler bit in question and give it say "Jewel of D Three Prayers" as a name... and when it comes to becoming active or when the spoiler is revealed give that actual "Jewel of Three Prayers (Dormant)" to the player? sorry if that last bit is a little vague I'm not familiar with Call of the Netherdeep or the secrets of
Ruidium items
hope it helps
edit might have to check your players have activated use homebrew for their characters incase you haven't been using homebrew otherwise the item won't appear for them... as far as I know the item just needs to be part of your DM/GM homebrew collection
“It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt, It lies behind stars and under hills, And empty holes it fills, It comes first and follows after, Ends life, kills laughter.” J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit, or There and Back Again
If you make homebrew versions using those items as templates and literally put that information in spoilers, it will be completely invisible on the character sheet. Even the spoiler boxes will be invisible.

Huh, interesting! I never knew that! Might have to do this for the shield of the Hidden Lord in DiA.
I was hoping it would be hidden on their character sheet when they receive the item. But when they put the item into their inventory, they can see what was supposed to be hidden behind a spoiler. Which seems to defeat the purpose of the spoiler feature.
Mmm... I could have sworn that worked before either it was just wishful thinking on my part or something has changed as the "spoiler" is clearly visible when I look at the item on my players character sheet... this could explain why I have failed to tempt one of my players into attuning to the Necros Daemonomica I made.

It definitely used to work before. I guess they changed something in the system. 🤷♂️
Good ole' WoTC. Haven't seen anyone else talking about it. Hopefully it changes soon, but if it is anything similar to when they changed the coding, it might not ever get changed.

Very useful info, thanks!

Uhhh... My spoiler items are showing in my character's items. Is this happening to anyone else??
From what Sposta said, they're only hidden in the actual sheet. Is that where you're looking at them?
Paladin main who spends most of his D&D time worldbuilding or DMing, not Paladin-ing.

I made a bug report about this. Please add your voices to the call if you care about getting this functionality back: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/155793-spoilers-in-magic-item-descriptions-no-longer).
