Alright, I swear I saw this somewhere, but I'll be dipped if I can find it now: somebody, somewhere - possibly even here - made a post talking about their game mechanic of dropping a cadre of bears on their players at random times, but I cannot remember any details except one: In a forest? Suddenly bears. In a city? Suddenly bears. In an airship? Suddenly bears. On the moon? Suddenly bears.
These weren't even special bears. Not city circus bears, not sailing bears, not moon bears. Just bears. Am I just imagining this? Or is this a real, nonsense mechanic one (or more) of y'all uses to spice things up and keep your players on their toes? My players are getting a bit uppity and cocksure; I want to throw some curve balls at them for the next few months.
Does ANYONE know what I'm talking about, or have I lost my mind again?
Haven't seen a randomly bears for DND, but in a PC game I played if you didn't dig up your tree stumps the Admin would spawn loads of bears on you and your hut... was pretty fun/funny

All posts come with the caveat that I don't know what I'm talking about.

Funny? Sounds unbearable.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

Nah, this was way more specific and kinda capricious on the part of the DM in question.

Well, there is an official stat block for an animated table... 🤣
No, but thank you for alerting me to that thread. I may wander around in there for a while. 😆
