Effectively what it says up top- I have a magic item that makes my player's strikes deal double damage to objects and structures. I feel as it would fit perfectly with their character (John Henry-esque Barbarian), but I am not sure how much of a pain it would be to deal with. They are currently level 4, and I am giving them their first uncommon permanent magic item. Thanks for the help!
You can expect them to be using it to knock down doors reliably and that sort of thing. If you play in a game where "magically locked doors" are a common occurrence then expect to either allow them to rip such doors down, or to disappoint the player by saying no.
If they are fairly responsible players (IE will not go rampaging and destroying buildings for the fun of it) then I expect this to allow for some excellent tactics and roleplay-combat, which would be seriously good fun!
The only thing I can think that might come up is if the player wants to start attacking enemy armor/shield, or break someone’s sword/spell focus. In which case you can explain that D&D does not support that kind of called shot.

The main problem is that it will encourage actually using the rules for damage to objects, which are generally a headache.
