So I am trying to make a half caster fighter but everytime I try and use the spell section, it doesn't work, does anyone know how to make a spellcasting subclass for a class that doesn't cast spells?
On the main page of create a subclass there is a box for " can cast spells" that needs to be yes then there are boxes next to it for things like spell casting ability
Personally, I would suggest something entirely different.
Feats exist for a reason and one of the abilities a DM has is provide an opportunity for players to select new feats. Maybe there's an event in world that brings together the Masters and Grandmasters of different discipline. During this event your players can take part (maybe for a fee, maybe not) and receive new feats. This would allow player characters from typically non-magical classes to access magic.
Or if you don't want to dip into that, just make the magic related feats available to each class. Or homebrew a feat that can allow access to particular spells. I for example have crafted a feat allowing my Cleric Player to have access to Meta-Magic through a limited pool of sorcery points.
Approaching things via feats that either already exist or have been well played through is less likely to introduce wild imbalance into your game.
Multi-classing and feats exist for a reason and frankly there's often a solution that is functionally superior in a better understanding of these areas than exists in homebrewed solutions.

The issue with that is I have tried to do that with several different subclasses, but none of them have worked?
I forgot you also have to create a granted feature called spell casting to set which level they get it
Thank you I will try this and see if this works.

Sorry, had you posted in the Homebrew forum I would have seen this earlier. There is a complete walkthrough on how to properly implement Spellcasting for non-caster classes in the Homebrew Subclasses & Species FAQ #7: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).
