Where is the Magical Item Saving throw Table in the 5E DMG? I could not find it so I pulled my old 1E table out of mothballs to use as a substitute. If there is such a table can someone point me in the right direction?

No - IIRC it used to be when you took a fireball (for example) you rolled for each of your items to see if they broke.
That has been done away with now. 5e tends to be more streamlined as opposed to attempting to replicate reality that the earlier editions seemed to be going for.
It should also be noted that magical items in 5e are assumed (though don't necessarily have to be) more rare than other editions. So in 2nd ed where my warrior was choosing which of his 30 magical swords were best for this occasion in 5e you are lucky to have one by mid to late levels. Losing one in 2e wasn't a big deal; losing one in 5e is.
I don't have 1E DMG anymore but wasn't it the case that if you were hit with an AOE spell like fireball, there was a chance your items got destroyed? And they had to make saving throws not to be, I think...

WOTC lies. We know that WOTC lies. WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. We know that WOTC knows that we know that WOTC lies. And still they lie.
Because of the above (a paraphrase from Orwell) I no longer post to the forums -- PM me if you need help or anything.
With the notable exception of Rust Monsters (who are still nowhere near as bad as before), the risk of loss of equipped items by taking damage from attacks and spells has largely been removed in 5e.
I feel like the old rule was (although maybe just our group used it), "If your character survives, your equipment survives." But if the character died to an AOE spell back in the day, then every item on him or her had to be rolled to save or be destroyed along with them.

Pretty sure that was a house rule, but I am going on 30+ year old memories ... Again though - my group never used the table that I recall. I feel like it was one of those often deliberately overlooked rules.
Back then though we never had internet or anything similar, so unless you knew another group (and I certainly didn't - heck it was just my brother and I) then whatever you did was 100% canon.

Hahaha! So true! I fondly remember as a kid having a 2e bard with charisma as a dump stat, cause none of us had any idea what charisma was used for. And that was cannon. We really had no idea how to play, but it was so fun!

There is not one. You may want to look at Objects armor class. Or make your own. Back in 1E when I DMed, if your failed your saving throw, your items had to roll to save. So your magic items and regular gear could be destroyed. Some things save on a 2 others were higher. If your magic item failed, you lost it. If your helm of brilliance failed a chance existed for the stored spells to cook off. My brother's thief failed an lighting bolt. He lived until half the fireballs stones cooked off. The only thing left were the leather boots, and the helm. But remember back then magic items were more common than today. Pull some old 1E modules out and see how many magic items are given out.

And grey oozes and black puddings (something my players recently discovered) these give a -1 AC when attacking and if attacked weapons suffer a point of damage.
There was an item saving throw table in the DMG on here at one time as I was using it! Though it was messy and no longer there so I use the better 1E item saving throws now.

on page 80 of the 1E DMG there is a saving throw table for non and mgaical items. There seems to be no such thing in the 5E dmg.
Yes, there is no such table in 5e. What do you need one for/what is that table supposed to do?
Do you mean the Save DCs to use when creating homebrewed Magic Items?

We also mixed up a lot of basic/expert rules and AD&D rules.
