I'm looking for a preexisting creature or a monster feature that I could adapt. My goal is to throw a PC or two off a ledge (they'll survive... probably).
Anything come to mind?
Edit: I'm aware of grappling and all that. just didn't know if there was a creature that excelled in this sort of thing.

Yeah, the encounter has a medium creature with a 15 STR so it can do grapple fairly well. What about throwing a creature a number of feet? I know it can make a shove action but It'd be nice to be able to throw them further than 5 feet.
my party recently went up against a pterafolk nest where I had the pterafolk attempting to haul the party members off the ledge of their nesting cave and let go. I had planned to allow the party members to attempt to hold on (if they thought I’m of it) or try to throw themselves towards the ledge to it wasn’t an instakill, but it turns out someone had prepared levitate and saved the only character I got off the ledge. They thought it was going to be a cakewalk until they realized the tactic. Was quite fun.

Yeahhhhhhh might be a bit overkill for a lvl 3 party. I guess I could just increase the size of the creature, buff it's strength a bit, or give it a specialized shove type thing.

I was giving the kraken as an example. All you have to do is copy the fling feature, scale down the damage, and voila! You have a throwing monster.

Good call good call. Scaling the fling feature might work. I want to do it without making the creature any bigger/tougher as they'll be fighting a large creature a couple scenes after this but I think I can make it work.

Any creature with a high Str and proficiency in Athletics will be good at grappling.

I know it's not the same but a creature like Mimic might work. It doesn't have a reason to drop them though, I believe.
Varielky
For a low-level party, a constrictor snake might work.

Some creatures like a Kraken can grapple and throw creatures. But don't use a Kraken, it's way too high a CR.

Thanks for everyone's help!
A variety of monsters apply the grappled condition. For some reason bears don't grapple in this edition, though they did in previous editions.
