in the options I see ways to increase the attack roll of spells, but not the damage, is there an option for this? I also see bonus to "magic" as an option but this seems to do nothing, can someone who has played with it enough fill me in? or is there a guide to the item creator options anywhere?

Ah, yes, I misread your question. You are correct, there does not appear to be a damage increase. In lieu of a better solution, perhaps add force damage. Damage>> Force.

that gives me bonus to attack roll, as in whether I hit or not, it doesn't affect damage roll

would that make me do more damage with anything that does force damage, or would it make a weapon deal additional force damage on hit?
The second one.
