Hey everyone I'm trying to get some help in a homebrewed feat I'm making that gives a negative 1 to the character's constitution score, how I have it currently is Bonus; Constitution Score; Fixed Value -1, but the character's score hasn't dropped, I've even waited the 15min, heck I even gave it 24 hours just in case. Thanks ahead of time for any thoughts. :)
Interesting I didn't know you couldn't change a max capped ability negatively thought it only worked that way when trying to increase it higher. And It's a set of feats I created to represent some curses and to make it simpler on my players If they contracted this curse they could just add the feat and have the negatives apply, and you are correct this feat worked on a character that a Con score under 20.
Instead of using the “Bonus” Modifier, use the “Stacking Bonus” Modifier.
For things capable of raising an Ability Score above 20 (like the “Tomes” & “Manuals”), the Stacking Bonus Modifier is one of the two pieces required to pull that off. (The other one being the Bonus Modifier with the “Ability Score Maximum” Subtype.)
Hey, I am trying a similar feat to the one mentioned in this post, but I cannot seem to get the negative scores to apply to the ability scores when the feat is added to the character. I can usually rely on your responses for a lot of homebrew questions and they have helped so far, but this one is giving me some trouble.
I have tried the modifier "Bonus">"ability score">Fixed value "-1", as well as the "Stacking Bonus" version and no luck. Is there a step I'm missing or a different configuration? Or is this something that will have to be manually applied to the character scores? (The feat I'm trying to create adds a positive score and a negative score. For the time being I'm using the feat to act as a curse/magical disease mechanic for an upcoming homebrew game.
Any advice or help is greatly welcomed. Thank you in advance!
Have you looked at the score breakdown on the ability page which shows all the bonuses? If it has enough bonuses to equal 21 or more but only shows 20 because of the cap, a -1 wouldn't bring it to 19.

I have a feeling you have bad memory,so double check all your modifiers on the score,just to see if it did infact not change.
Side note:did you remember to take the feat.
I have checked many times he had a 20 and it is still a 20 and yes I added it to his character sheet myself through manage feats.

Yeah,ability score changes don't work if the current score is equal to the score cap,even if they are negative.
Also,why on earth is max con character,getting a feat that reduce their con.

You have it mostly right:
Modifier: Bonus->Subtype: [Ability] Score->Fixed Value: -X
I’m assuming that you’re making one of two common mistakes. Either:

Hmmm, I'll give that a try and see. Thank you!
Edit: I believe it may have been a combo of both. I changed it to "Bonus" and tried the different "-" and it worked!
Thank you so much!
