A fellow party member decided to play a Fairy Druid in our new campaign, but was disappointed by the lack of "fairy"-style traits. She'd also been looking forward to playing a Tiny race, and is very into fairy lore.
So I put together a variant racial trait that I thought she might like:
Faerie Size
You can use a bonus action to magically become Tiny for 10 minutes. During this time your speed is reduced by 10 feet, your height is between 1/2 and 1 foot while keeping proportionally sized in other dimensions, and you are able to squeeze through a space as narrow as 1 inch wide.
Anything you are wearing or carrying changes size with you. Accordingly, the damage dice of your weapons and unarmed attacks change to 1s, and you have disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws. You are unable to use regular-sized weapons unless they have the light property, and your attacks with them are made with disadvantage.
You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
I thought this would be a way to get back the UA Fey Passage trait that had been understandably left out of the final release. The idea is that the trait stays applied for the full 10 minute duration, and will affect Wildshape (so you can become a black bear while it's in effect, but still remain Tiny and with weak attacks.)
Any suggestions? We'll see how it works in practice.
The player is very into fairy lore which is why I wanted to do something special, and she likes the trait (we haven't had a chance to try it out in-game yet.) I just want to be sure if I'm missing something. Doubtless I need to mention about weight adjustments but this is pretty much just for our campaign.

That’s why they get fairy magic with enlarge/reduce.

Indeed. But we are doing a short module, and it'll be a while until we reach level 5.

Ahh ha ha…. That makes sense. You could also just start at 3rd or 4th level. But yeah, that seems fine.
