Hello all, I've been trying to create some custom armor for the Strixhaven module, some school robes that the character can wear instead of going to class in full plate and whatnot. I'm trying to make a few sets:

1. standard robes akin to leather armor
2. dueling robes that make full use of dex heavy characters' modifier
3. and some armored robes that just have some extra AC built-in without taking a hit due to a negative dex score

I've no idea how to design these in the custom magic items system. I've got the first set of robes down no problem since it's literally just a reskinned leather set, but trying to make the others is like Greek to me. Any help I could get with this would be great, I'm really lost when it comes to making items for this game on here.

• I’m not really sure what you mean by “dueling robes that make full use of a Dex heavy character’s modifier” since a character in regular robes and nothing else already adds their full Dex modifier to their AC (just like a character in any light armor does including leather).
• Reskin a cloak of protection.

Thanks! That makes sense now. Guess I had no idea on how leather armor worked in-game. Rather new to this so thank you kindly!
