I am building a monk subclass that uses spell casting, all of the settings you mentioned in #5 of the general FAQ has been selected but I still cannot select my subclass. I’ve made all proper edits to the spellcasting ability in feature and I still get nothing. Any other things I’m missing in order to make this class available to me?
I suppose it may not be spellcasting, that's just the only thing I can think of that could be causing the issue. I have tried creating a monk from level 3 to level 20 with homebrew enabled and the subclass just doesn't show. I have made the appropriate level scaling changes for the other abilities, so maybe I'm missing something in that aspect.
When you say you can’t select the subclass, what level is the character?
How do you no, that the spellcasting is not working if you can’t select the subclass?
I’m confused.
In addition, it is also not showing up in my Homebrew Collection, only in the Creations tab. All of my other creations have shown in both, but not his one.

Then you accidentally removed it from collection. This would explain why it is not showing up. View your homebrew and click Add to Collection.

I want to make a tiefling subrace but it wont let me what should I do?
That’s because Tiefling isn’t designated to have subraces in the system. Instead of subraces they have “variants,” you’ll have to make one of those instead.
No, not "always prepared", but "counts as prepared". I wanted an added spell to take up one of the prepared spell slots instead of being "free". The closest I have come is the combination of "consume slots: yes", "counts as known: yes", and "always prepared: no". However, that also made it not populate at the subclass level due to it being a higher level spell, if I remember correctly. I'll try that again since it has been awhile. I only started working on the subclass again recently.

What class is this subclass for?
If your subclass is for an Artificer, Cletic, Druid, Paladin, or Wizard, then you have set it up correctly. The reason it won’t populate at the lower level is because of the Consumes Spell Slot designation. Since the character has no spell slots of that level or higher yet, there’s nothing to consume and so it doesn’t populate. Set that to “No” and give it limited uses instead and you should be set.
If it’s for any other spellcasting class, then “Always Prepared” will do absolutely nothing for you since those other classes don’t prepare their spells.
What exactly are you trying to accomplish, and what precisely have you tried? If you can provide the description for your feature so I understand what it’s sposta do then it will be easier to help you.

Aright, buckle up, this is gonna be a ride.
It is indeed a subclass for Artificer and instead of the normal block of spells, I like to experiment with different ideas. For this particular subclass, I wanted 4 related spells to be at-will cast (with other features revolving around these spells), but half of them are 3rd level spells (bestow curse and remove curse, specifically). I was thinking of having them count as prepared spells as a away to "balance" immediately getting access to infinitely castable 3rd level spells and could not figure out how to make all of that work appropriately. As for what I have tried, I was mainly playing with those three fields I mentioned previously to see if that would work. But this was also a while back and I put this particular project on hold for a time and don't remember much of my process.
All that to say that since I have been thinking about it recently, I have come to the conclusion that the reduced number of spells with this combination of spells is actually already a decent handicap as it is and decided to drop that specific part I as trying to do. Now, whether that is the correct decision or not remains to be seen in playtesting, I suppose.

Ahh ha ha. Okay, I understand now. Out of curiosity, what are the other two spells? Are they bless & bane by chance, or hex and something else?
I gotta say that having infinite feee castings of bestow curse is incredibly overpowered, even if it happened as the subclass’s 9th level feature when they normally get access to 3rd-level spells. Bless as a cantrip is similarly overpowered, just not quite as bad. I hope you know what you’re getting into.

Nope. They are detect magic and identify.
As for overall balance, I figured that by using Bestow Curse as one of the core features, I could shortcut the writing of a whole new ability. Basically it gets those spells, some provisions for creating cursed items with the spell, and some other upgrades along the way. Nothing too crazy, I think, since literally the whole kit depends on the one spell for its identity.

I might still limit it to a number of free castings per long rest equal to the PC’s Intelligence modifier or something, and then let them cast it with spell slots if they want more.
As much as I would like in-depth feedback regarding balance, that is a discussion to have elsewhere, I believe.
Back to the main topic, from what you have said, I was on the right track, but then "limits of the system" and all that prevented me from doing it exactly how I wanted to do it. Does that sum it up?

Something similar to Lightning arrow. (The idea, however, was to be able to use it only on melee weapons and with fire damage)
Sure, you can make that. Use lightning arrow as a template and see how it’s made. Then you can change it however you wish:

Only problem I have the paper player's manual, not the one on dnd beyond.
You’re overcomplicating things I think. The system isn’t really all that… functional.

I apologize for the lack of notice there, that was the key there. Thank you very much.
Thanks!
Just to double check that I am not blind, there is no way to toggle a spell added through a feature to count as a prepared spell, right?
