How do I get the choices to work properly for a homebrew the same way the new MotM races do? I copied harengon, but when I go to use the race in the character builder, the ability score choices sit on the Race tab instead of the Abilities tab. Also, I'm able to choose the same stat twice, or three teams for each option, so that I can get +3 to a stat instead of filtering out the ability I chose for the dropdown.
Is there a way to get the ability score choices to move the Abilities tab and for them to disallow choosing the same stat?
You need to create a trait and set its "Character levels where options known" to 1, then add two options; one is your "Increase three scores ( +1 / +1 / +1 )" and the other is "Increase two scores ( +1 / +2 )".
Within each option you want to add the appropriate number of Modifiers (three and two respectively); all the modifiers will be Bonus -> Choose an Ability Score to Increase by 1 or 2, then set the Fixed Value of each to the correct number for the increase (the modifier on its own doesn't set the increase).
I really wish DDB would give us a way to quickly insert this onto new races, otherwise we need to copy ones that already have it (though many now do).
Update: Struck the part about character levels where options known, didn't realise it defaulted to one choice and could cause issues, thanks IamSposta! Update 2: Updated to make mention of the newer modifiers (that make it clearer which increases by 1 or 2).
Former D&D Beyond Customer of six years: With the axing of piecemeal purchasing, lack of meaningful development, and toxic moderation the site isn't worth paying for anymore. I remain a free user only until my groups are done migrating from DDB, and if necessary D&D, after which I'm done. There are better systems owned by better companies out there.
I have unsubscribed from all topics and will not reply to messages. My homebrew is now 100% unsupported.

Actually, do that👆, but leave “Character Levels Where Options Known” completely blank and it will automatically default to a single choice at character creation. If you put a 1 in there it may not let you make a choice until you have selected a class and are officially “1st level.”
Whenever I do this, the choices don't appear during character creation. I'm very new to homebrew on DDB and I can't seem to get many of these features to display during character creation.

Following up on this as I got the dropdowns to work just fine, but it still allows players to select multiple of the same stat for the bonus and the dropdown shows up in both the Race and Abilities section.

There are lots of reasons that could be causing your issue. My best suggestion is to refer to the Homebrew Subclasses & Species FAQ #11: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).

Yeah, there’s no fixing that with homebrew.
