I'm trying to design a class that deemphasizes combat and instead works in other aspects, such as skills or utility spells, but I need some sort of cohesive theme to tie it all together.
Without a theme, a class is just a random assortment of abilities, and I want this to be actually good.
Some focuses for the class: weak in combat, invaluable at other tasks; excels at gathering wealth; lots of skills; a focus on both Int and Cha.

Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.
May each word that I speak be backed by each of my teeth.
You pretty much just described a Rogue without Sneak Attack. 🤷♂️
... I kinda know that. I just want something similar to that, but while still being useful. Think like an anti-fighter. While the fighter is typically hyper-focused on direct combat and physical abilities, this class would be focused on indirect confrontation (traps, bribes, making deals) and gathering knowledge and wealth to assist their party outside of combat.

It's a tough situation.

...and started me on my way into my next chapter in life...
So part Rogue, part Bard, and part Artificer, but none of the combat parts of any of them. Like a pacifist spy. Basically a fixer. That’s gonna be tough considering that D&D 5e is basically just a glorified combat engine.
Once you find a good model, figure out what you like about it and create the class around that. My intuition is that because your class idea resembles the rogue in many respects, you might be able to homebrew a nonviolent support subclass for rogue (perhaps analogous to an oath of mercy paladin, which you might look at for ideas) that will satisfy you with less work than creating a full class.

But the thing is, I'm doing this because it fits something that I've wanted to play for a long time and I don't have anything to do. Homebrewing is fun for me.
Also, thanks for the advice.

You want a “Fixer” class, so write one. Fixers are a thing for Shadowrun, at least they used to be, I’m not sure if they still exist as a class in the current edition. You might want to start there in looking for some ideas.

Tried that. I don't have the books, and I can't find any resources that will tell me what they can actually do. I'd say what I'm looking for is closer to the Antiquarian from Darkest Dungeon, but with face skills.

I don’t know Darkest Dungeon. A Fixer is someone who can get you whatever you need, including access. If you’ve got a problem, they can fix it for you. New in town and need to find some 1337 gear? They can find it for you. Need to get in to see the regent? They can get you access. Need a troublesome rival “handled?” They can find someone who can “handle” them for you. Whatever you need, be it materials or contacts, they can fix you up.

The only issue I'm having right now is coming up with a general theming. I know what I want the class to be able to do, I just don't know how they should be doing it flavor-wise, and I can't write it until I have that.

I'd say shamelessly pilfer ideas from media you like. When you picture your new class, what kinds of characters from TV, movies, anime, books do you imagine? If being put on the spot like that makes you go "uh... uh..." and grope for ideas, you can always browse TVTropes to find characters that you like:

I’m trying to give you your theme, a Fixer. Google it.
