Can someone more experienced with the editor tell me what the best way to homebrew a new infusion for Artificer would be? I'm not sure where to put it ...
Weapon infusion. Basically just an enchantment that can be performed (and acquired at higher levels) on larger than average sized weapons to allow someone to wield them with ease but keep the weight the same.
I don't know how to explain it other than as "alternate attacks" Like- I don't know of any examples of weapons being able to do multiple different physical damage types. Like, you would have the option to slash or stab with a long or shortsword, even though RAW and RAI there's no way for you to do that
3 was the closest to answering my question, the answer being "You can't currently," but at the same time that ... doesn't answer my question. Since it's not a special damage roll I'm wanting to add, just an alternate damage type from the base.
The weapon I'm wanting to make is a sword spear. It can do thrusting damage and slashing damage equally well, being a fusion of the two items. But since I can't list slashing as an alternate damage type for the weapon, for either of its strikes ... eh. I also had a problem with adding a ranged attack to another weapon, but had problems with that too ... mostly because it wasn't a firearm first, but a lance- the range isn't accurately depicted-
Yeah, you cannot change range or damage rolls. You could change the damage type from piercing to slashing, but you can’t have it do both, one of those would have to be added as a “special damage roll.” But frankly, it doesn’t really matter anyway, there are only about 5 creatures in all of 5e that care about the differences between bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage: 2 puddings, skeletons, and the two types of ambulatory trees. That’s it.
Fair enough. I wasn't doing it for resistances - I don't particularly care about that - just that I feel as if a sword spear should be able to do both. Meh. Thank you for your input.

This might not be the right fourm, but ...

What type of Infusion is it? Armor? Weapon? Something else?

So... I need to mess with it... But I'd say...
My Homebrew -> Create Magic Weapon -> Clone a Weapon (that is close to what you want). Edit the weapon there.
And then add the weapon to the character - click the name of the weapon and customize (like the weight and whatever else)
Like I said - I need to make a character and mess with Artificer to see if this is the best way... but this is what came to mind.

Okay, thank you very much!
Let me know if that works!
Folks in the Artificer section may also know and already created such a thing.

This helps me a bunch too thanks. 😊
I'm glad I made this topic.
I have another question:
How do you get alternate attacks on weapons?
What do you mean by “alternate attacks?” If you mean one of the three things I think you mean, then please see the Homebrew Items & Equipment FAQ #s 1, 3, or 10: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).
