I'm working on a homebrew subclass, and one of the features allows extra damage to unarmed strikes and weapon attacks. I'd like the extra damage to be functional when rolling on the character sheet if possible. The feature reads as follows:
Your attacks now count as magical and deal an additional 1d6 fire damage. As the heat continues to grow, the damage increases to 2d6 at level 10, and to 3d6 at level 14.
How could I go about seeing this on the character sheet?
Well now, I guess there is a way that might work, but it’s kinda convoluted and would only apply to melee weapons, longbows, shortbows, and unarmed strikes. No other ranged weapons would benefit from it. You would add the following Modifiers to your feature:
Then you would have to add another feature at 10th level with the exact same name as the first feature, and attach all the exact same Modifiers, and do it again at 17th level. However, if it works it won’t display as “+ 3d6,” it’ll display as “+ 1d6 + 1d6 + 1d6” instead. If it works, and only on those specific attacks.

You can’t. What you can do is add an Action to that class feature that lets them roll the fire damage separately the same way Sneak Attack works.

Is there a way to have it show more as a reminder than functional?
Not and have it scale like you want.
