I had a hexblade Warlock in one of my friends game and there were some story choices that I needed to make were I ended up changing my pact from Hexblade to Celestial. My GM has said I'm allowed to keep the Hex Warrior and Hexblade's Curse features to go along with the Celestial features (these are granted by the weapon that the Celestial being bestowed). I was wondering if there is any way I could do that with the Hombrew class editor so I can have them in the app?
Yes. You would make a homebrewed subclass using the Celestial as a template so it will port in all of those features for you, and then you would simply add those two Hexblade features to it. If you need help doing that post again and I will help you.
No problem. It’s actually pretty easy if you have purchased Xanathar’s Guide here, most of its just copy/pasting. Did you purchase Xanathar’s here on DDB?
Then in the first widow hit [ADD A FEATURE], and type “Hex Warrior” as the name, paste the copied text into the Description field, set the Available At Level field to 1, designate the Feature Type as “granted,” and hit [SAVE] for that feature.
Then, in a third window goi to your character sheet and copy the abridged version of that description, return to your first window and paste that in the Snippet field and hit [SAVE] again.
Follow those same steps for the Hexblade’s Curse feature. Then come back here and lemme know when you’re done and I’ll talk you through the rest of it.
ok cool, got all that done. You might be running me through this in a minute but I did notice that the damage modifiers and healing amount for the curse hasn't changed, and well as the charge usage has not appaired yet
Good. Yes, that’s as expected because we haven’t put the finishing pieces in yet.
In the homebrewer, in the Hexblade’s Curse feature where the number for the damage modifier is in the snippet field for that feature, delete the number and replace it with this: {{proficiency}}
Where the number for the healing is, delete the number and replace it with this: {{(classlevel+modifier:cha)#unsigned}}
Then hit [SAVE] again.
Then highlight and copy everything in that snippet field. Then scroll down and hit [ADD AN ACTION]. When the new form opens up, select “General Action,” then scroll down and set the Action Type to “special,” set the Reset Type to “short rest,” paste that snippet you copied into the snippet field for the Action and hit [SAVE]. Then, scroll all the way down and there will be a new field labeled “Limited Uses.” Click [ADD LIMITED USE DATA]. When the screen loads, set the Number of Uses to 1 and [SAVE]. Then re-save the Action, then re-save the feature.
Then go to the Hex Warrior feature and add the following three Modifiers:
Modifier: Proficiency->Subtype: Martial Weapons
Modifier: Proficiency->Subtype: Medium Armor
Modifier: Proficiency->Subtype: Shields
Then re-save that feature as well.
Finally, in your second window go here and copy the description from the Celestial warlock: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/warlock#TheCelestial). The. Paste it into the description field under Basic Information for your new subclass and hit [SAVE CHANGES]. Then give it 20 minutes for the system to update and add it to your character.
I think the only thing left is having it so I use Charisma as the weapon attack stat, but other than that, this worked like a dream. So easy to follow and i actually learned a ton from this. enough that I think I might be able to make a completely custom subclass maybe
No problem. I’m happy to help. And the Cha as the attack ability is baked right into the name of the Hex Warrior feature. As long as you named your feature “Hex Warrior” it will work, you just have to select your weapon on the character sheet.

Then Step 1 is to simply follow this link, select Warlock as the class and Celestial as the subclass you want as your template: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations/create-subclass).
Then, in a separate window go here and drag highlight the text from the Hex Warrior feature and copy it: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/warlock#TheHexblade).

If you do decide to homebrew some more, here’s a handy FAQ I wrote that will help: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq). It should answer most questions you might have, and make things as easy as this was. If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to ask.
