im making a scimitar that will basically work as a magical bladed yo-yo, but i need help modifying the range of the weapon, right now i have the thrown property and ranged property, which changes the weapons range from 5ft to 5ft (5ft)
Please, pretty please, with sprinkles on top, leave your requests HERE So that the DDB team is more likely to notice these requests. The more people who ask for it there, the higher the chances of them prioritizing these requests.
This is really late, but as an alternate you can add the Bonus - Melee Reach modifier to just increase the range of the "melee" attack, as a substitute.
You can alter it farther than that, I was messing with it while making a homebrew whip, and could edit the reach as far as 60 feet, this wasn't what I had in the final version of the item, but you can change it, the final version had a reach of 15 feet.
It's worth noting though, if you use the Bonus - Melee Reach it will change the reach of all your melee weapons, I noticed this after seeing my unarmed strikes and longsword having a reach of 10 feet instead of 5 feet

Like I said, you cannot edit the reach of a specific weapon beyond 10 feet. The modifier you were using modifies the reach of the PC, not the weapon.

They plan to, eventually... It would be a very big project and it is currently a functioning tool (just not as versatile or friendly as we'd like). That is a lot of resources to spend making a new tool from scratch and making sure all existing homebrew converts properly, just to replace a currently working tool. So obviously, it has a relatively low priority compared to adding new tools that don't already exist.
While trying to homebrew a Soulknife rouge I was trying to figure out how to add soul blade that are melee but can be thrown up to 60ft and I got a work around. All you have to do is select ranged under type and then select the range and then change it back to melee the effect will be a melee action with a range of whatever you put down.

Even if the item is an existing throwing weapon such as a dagger?
You can't change it. Stuck on default.

This is 6 years and i still cant change the range or default Die of a weapon.
