To clarify, certain classes & races you can pick from a selection of skills; at level 1, a blood hunter can choose from acrobatics, arcana, insight, investigative & survival. At level 3 a samurai fighter can pick between history,in sight, performance & persuasion. So on for other (sub)classes & races.
When making a homebrew you can give proficiency using the add modifier to either a single skill or using the "choose xx skill" option.
When making my own subclass & the proficiencies it would grant, I wanted to know if I can add my own custom "choose from the following choices" options? Also I've noticed that for example I can use the blood hunter skill choices modifier but not something that wasnt purchased, say the samurai skill choices one.
Is there any way to create a custom 'choose from the selected choices' option?
Like to give the class/race feature pick from the following skills; and make those skills as random as I want without using a templated option?
This race had a racial trait that allowed you to choose the proficiency in 2 skills out of 5.
The way I did it was to create the racial trait by adding "1, 1" in the section "character levels where options known" (to indicate 2 different choices at level 1) and by adding 5 options to it.
Each option represents the choice of a particular skill. After you create an option and you give it a name (eg. Trait name - Skill name), you add the modifier as Proficiency -> Skill.
So, this is great information, thank you. I tried this for a subclass, a cleric domain, and added a feature called "Realm of Thought". One part was giving the character 2 choices from among 4 skills. I used the above procedure and it worked (great!) with one small issue. in the character builder, in the drop down, each choice shows up as "Realm of Thought", even though I named each sub option by teh skill name, such as Arcana, History, etc. So, a player does not know which skill they are selecting in the dropdown. Did you experience this?
How can you replace an option that in previous levels choose? Like Battlemaster's Maneuvers when getting additional they have an extra choice of replacing one that they already have with another one.

To achieve that, you just go back and edit your choice. No need for a "replacement" option.

When I do this it's not working for me. It saves everything I add to the race, but when the race is selected on a character sheet there are no options to choose from? Does the choice list show up somewhere other than the race selection portion of the character builder?

Thank you, I think it was just delayed in loading because the options are now showing up. However, it's supposed to be 2 choices out of 7 options and it's giving 7 options instead. I will look through that walkthrough. Thank you again.
Update: According to the walkthrough I have done this correctly but they are still getting 7 options instead of 2? Could it just need a long time to "update" the information.
I have been inputting a homebrew race from a sourcebook so that I can have it on my dndbeyond character sheet, but one of the racial options has essentially two sub option choices. You can choose one of 10 options, and one of those options is a choice between climbing speed and swimming speed, but I don't know how to give them that choice. Would I have to hard code it into different options, one for climbing and one for swimming?

I would like to know this as well
I had to homebrew a race for my group's campaign.

For the subclasses it's the same procedure.

It shows up on the Race tab of the character builder. You must have set your Options up incorrectly, but they can be tricky, so that’s easy to do. There is a full walkthrough on how to properly set up Options in the Homebrew Subclasses & Species FAQ #1: (https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/131411-a-homebrewers-how-to-faq).

You put “1,1” in the Levels Where Options Known field? I’m that case, please see #s 6 & 6-B of the General FAQ (same link).
